Stagefright, for those of you that don’t remember, was first brought to light back in July of this year for being a very bad vulnerability in Android. If someone sent you a corrupted video file, it could steal data from your system. Many phone manufacturers have either released or will be releasing patches soon for lots of devices. And now, the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Dual can join the list of having Stagefright patched.
In a new update, build number 32.0.A.6.152, Stagefright has bee patched, along with a few other bugs. This update is available for the Xperia Z5 (E6603, E6653), Xperia Z5 Dual (E6633, E6683) and Xperia Z5 Compact (E5803, E5823). All variations of those devices in various countries (depending on your carrier and country itself) are getting this update, which is about 281MB in size.
Other bug fixes included are better camera performance, higher accuracy from the fingerprint and scanner, and better heat management. You can either download this update OTA or use PC Companion on a computer to update. We recommend doing it when you can, as Stagefright is a pretty big hole in the OS.
