As Android Marshmallow gets further from its initial release date, more devices are getting the update. A few weeks after the update failed to show, Verizon now is explicitly stating that owners of the Droid Turbo 2 can get Android 6.0 onto their devices.
As we’ve said previously for all devices that have gotten Marshmallow, this update brings several new features to various devices, including the following:
- App permissions
- App Standby
- Attentive Display now part of Moto Actions
- Do not disturb mode
- Do not disturb integrated with Assist
- Doze mode
- Direct Share
- Expandable storage (adoptable)
- Expanded volume controls
- Now on Tap
If you don’t see the Marshmallow update immediately, that is because Verizon is rolling out the update gradually. Most users will likely see the update appear over the next couple of weeks. Verizon is also issuing the update in a two-stage process.
The first update, “SU1A: 23.31.24.kinzie_verizon.verizon.en.US,” most likely prepares the device for the installation of Marshmallow, while the second, “SU1B Reg 3: 24.14.10.kinzie_verizon.verizon.en.US,” is the actual update to Marshmallow itself. The second should appear immediately after installing the first, with both available OTA.
So if you have the Droid Turbo 2, now is the time to get excited. If you don’t have a Droid Turbo 2, but want one, is this the moment you will finally pull the trigger on getting one? Let us know in the comments.
