How to fix WhatsApp not working on Galaxy A80 | WhatsApp server down

How to fix WhatsApp not working on Galaxy A80 | WhatsApp server down

If WhatsApp is not working on your Galaxy A80, below are the things that you should try to troubleshoot it:

 WhatsApp not working fix #1: Check for online solutions

Facebook apps and services, including WhatsApp, go down from time to time. At the time of this writing, WhatsApp and other Facebook services just went back to normal after a few hours of downtime. If WhatsApp seem to be not working in any way, try to check the latest technology news to see if there’s known bug for the app. From there, you should know what to do. Facebook usually advise users on what to do. In most cases, the solution is to simply wait until the developers figure out the cause and fix. If you are affected by an outage or server problem, don’t waste your time doing anything else other than wait until the bug goes away on its own.

 WhatsApp not working fix #2: Restart WhatsApp

If there’s no reported problem with WhatsApp anywhere, then you can assume that the issue may be unique to your device or app. In this case, what you have to do first is to restart WhatsApp. Restarting the problem app is another good way to troubleshoot the issue. Most app bugs are temporary and go away after an app has been restarted. Make sure that you don’t skip this simple solution.

There are two ways to restart your WhatsApp app. Here’s how:

1. On your screen, tap the Recent Apps soft key (the one with three vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
2. Once the Recent Apps screen is shown, swipe left or right to look for the Instagram app. It should be here if you managed to run it previously. Then, swipe up on the app to close it. This should force close it. If it’s not there, simply tap the Close All app to also restart all apps.

Another way to force close an app is this:

1. Open Settings app.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
4. Tap Show system apps.
5. Find and tap the WhatsApp app.
6. Tap Force Stop.

 WhatsApp not working fix #3: Update WhatsApp

Another way to lessen the chances of bugs is to ensure that the apps are running their latest version. If your WhatsApp problem occurs out of the blue, make sure that it’s updated. To check for app updates:

1. Open Play Store app.
2. Tap More settings icon (at the upper left).
3. Tap My apps & games.
4. Tap Update all button.

It’s also important that you ensure that the Operating System is fully updated. To check for Android or system update:

1. Open Settings app.
2. Tap Software update.
3. Tap Download and install.
4. Wait for the device to check for updates.
5. Install the update. If there’s no new update, your phone should tell you so.

 WhatsApp not working fix #4: Restart device

If you haven’t tried it yet, be sure to restart the system. This is one of the basic troubleshooting steps for any app issue. It’s simple and often effective in dealing with minor bugs and fixes. In most instances, wifi troubles are temporary and caused by an app or software bug. Make sure to perform this troubleshooting step in this case. Here’s how: press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on.

If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.
4. The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. Hopefully, your wifi troubles will get fixed by this procedure. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.

 WhatsApp not working fix #5: Clear WhatsApp cache

Another way to directly deal with the app is by clearing its cache. Delete the cache of your Instagram app with these steps:

1. Open Settings app.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
4. Tap Show system apps.
5. Find and tap the WhatsApp app.
6. Tap Storage.
7. Tap Clear cache button.

 WhatsApp not working fix #6: Reset or reinstall WhatsApp

Should clearing the app’s cache won’t help, your next move would be to return the app to its defaults by clearing its data. The steps are basically the same for clearing the cache. Instead of tapping on clearing the cache, just tap on Clear Data. Doing so will return the Instagram app to its factory settings so you’ll have to sign back in to your account before you can use it again.

1. Open Settings app.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
4. Tap Show system apps.
5. Find and tap the WhatsApp app.
6. Tap Storage.
7. Tap Clear data button.

If WhatsApp was not part of the preinstalled apps package, which means it did come with the original software, then you should try to reinstall it instead of simply deleting its data. 

1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
2. Open Settings app.
3. Tap Apps.
4. Ensure All is selected (upper-left).  If necessary, tap the Dropdown icon (upper-left) then select All.
5. Locate then select the appropriate app. If system apps aren’t visible, tap the Menu icon (upper-right) then select Show system apps.
6. Tap Uninstall to delete an app.
7. Tap OK to confirm.

 WhatsApp not working fix #7: Uninstall updates

This troubleshooting step is the opposite of suggestion #3 but if your WhatsApp app started having a problem after it was updated, you can try to delete the update to fix it. 

1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
2. Open Settings app.
3. Tap Apps.
4. Ensure All is selected (upper-left).  If necessary, tap the Dropdown icon (upper-left) then select All.
5. Locate then select the appropriate app. If system apps aren’t visible, tap the Menu icon (upper-right) then select Show system apps.
6. Tap Uninstall to delete an app.
7. Tap OK to confirm.
8. To uninstall app updates (This option is only available when an update has been installed.)
9. Tap Uninstall Updates.
10. To confirm, tap OK.

If there’s no More settings icon at the upper right, that means that your app is fully updated. You can skip this step and proceed to the next one.

 WhatsApp not working fix #8: Change network type

Some users with the same problem were able to fix it by simply changing from wifi to mobile data or vice versa. It’s a simple workaround that may work so we suggest that you do so. 

Alternatively, you can try to reset the network settings of the device and see what happens.

1. Open Settings app.
2. Tap General management.
3. Tap Reset.
4. Tap Reset Network settings.
5. Tap RESET SETTINGS button to confirm.
6. Restart your A80 and check for the problem.

WhatsApp not working fix #9: Clear cache partition

If WhatsApp not working issue started after Android has been installed, there may be a  system cache problem at hand. Refresh the cache partition in order to force Android to rebuild the system cache. Here’s how:

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
5. Press Power button to select.
6. Press the Volume down key until ‘yes’ is highlighted and press the Power button.
7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

 WhatsApp not working fix #10: Check for bad third party apps

If WhatsApp came with the original software, you can also check if there’s a problem with one of the third party apps. Sometimes, a bad or poorly coded app may interfere with Android or other apps. While Safe Mode is active, only preinstalled apps will run. This means that if texting works normally on this mode but not while on normal mode, a bad third party must be causing the trouble. These are the steps to restart to safe mode:

1. Turn the device off.
2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
6. When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
7. While in Safe mode, use WhatsApp again and see if the problem returns.

To identify which of your apps is the source of trouble, you must use elimination method. Here’s what you can do:

1. Boot to safe mode.
2. Check for the problem.
3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
5. If your A80 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

 WhatsApp not working fix #11: Factory reset

As mentioned above, WhatsApp problems usually fix themselves. However, if there’s no known issue for the app for some time and none of the suggestions above has helped so far, you may have to consider wiping the phone. This is a drastic solution that requires a lot of work. There’s no guarantee that it will help but you can definitely give it a try if you notice that there are other unrelated problems on the device.

Below are the two ways to factory reset your Galaxy A80.

Method 1: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy A80 via Settings Menu

This is the easiest way to wipe your Galaxy A80. all you have to do is to go under Settings menu and follow the steps below. We recommend this method if you have no trouble going under Settings.

1. Create a backup of your personal data and remove your Google account.
2. Open Settings app.
3. Scroll to and tap General management.
4. Tap Reset.
5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.
6. Read the information then tap Reset to continue.
7. Tap Delete All to confirm action.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy A80 using hardware buttons

If your case is that the phone is not booting up, or it boots but Settings menu is inaccessible, this method can be helpful. First, you need to boot the device to Recovery Mode. Once you successfully access Recovery, that’s the time that you begin proper master reset procedure. It may take some tries for you before you can access Recovery so be patient and simply try again.

1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
4. Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bixby button at the same time.
5. While still holding the Volume Up and Bixby keys, press and hold the Power button.
6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.

 WhatsApp not working fix #12: Submit report bug

Alternatively, you can do your part and help WhatsApp community by reporting the bug. If you are able to open the app and go under its settings menu, find the reporting tool to let the developer know of the issue you’re having. This won’t give you a solution right away but it should help in letting the developer notice the issue.
