In this troubleshooting guide, we’ll deal with one particular issue that affects many Anker Soundcore Motion+ users all the time : the speaker is not being detected as an audio device. The Soundcore Motion+ is one of the popular Anker Soundcore speakers due to its excellent sound quality, longer battery life, portability, and affordability. This speaker continues to garner positive reviews since it was released a few years back so it’s not really a surprise that many people are using it. Just like any other Bluetooth device though, some users are reporting unique issues with it.
How to fix Soundcore Motion+ not detected as audio device in Windows 10?
If your Anker Soundcore Motion+ does not appear to be working on your computer, you need to check a number of things to identify the reason for it. For some people, their Bluetooth device may stop working all of a sudden due to a random connection bug. Others may encounter pairing issues during the initial connection setup. Still others may not be able to connect their Bluetooth speakers at all because of incompatibility issues.
The solutions outlined below will aim to cover all the common causes why your Anker Soundcore Motion+ may not be working, or is not being detected as an audio device on Windows 10 PC.
Fix #1: Restart your Soundcore Motion+ speaker.
The first step that you need to do in this case is to restart your Soundcore Bluetooth device. Sometimes, bluetooth connections may suffer from random bugs if something randomly disconnects paired devices. While your Soundcore Motion+ will automatically reconnect to the last connected devices in range, this may not happen if the reconnection process is interrupted for whatever reason. As the device reconnects and fails again, the loop may continue and eventually lead connection issues.
In order to stop the reconnection loop failure, simply turn your Soundcore Motion+ (and, if possible, your Windows 10 PC too) and turn it back on.
How to restart the Soundcore Motion+
Restarting the Soundcore Motion+ is easy. All you have to do is press and hold the Power button for about 2 seconds to turn off the speaker. Then, press the Power button once to turn it back on.
If the speaker was previously working with a connected device (PC or smartphone), it should automatically pair with it if it’s near enough and is in good line of sight.
Fix #2: Try disconnecting and re-pairing the Bluetooth devices.
If your bluetooth speaker did not automatically pair with your Windows 10 PC or smartphone after restarting, make sure that you check if the speaker has entered into Bluetooth Pairing mode. This mode is indicated by a slowly flashing blue light near the Bluetooth icon. You can press the Bluetooth icon once to enter Bluetooth Pairing Mode.
While the speaker is in this mode, you can go back to your Windows Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and check if your PC is detecting your Soundcore Motion+.
If it’s not showing in the list of Bluetooth devices at all, you can manually search for it by selecting Add Bluetooth or other devices > Bluetooth.
At times, the Soundcore Motion+ label will not show up so if your PC is detecting an Unknown device, select that instead.
Fix #3: Reset your Bluetooth speaker.
At times, the pairing process with Soundcore Motion+ won’t be straightforward. Many users, including me, will sometimes discover that my Soundcore Motion+ speaker will be grouped with “Other devices” instead of being in the “Audio.”
If this is what’s happening on your PC, follow these steps to resolve the problem.
- Turn off the Bluetooth on your PC.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth and Volume Up buttons on your Soundcore Motion+ for about 3 seconds.
- Press the Bluetooth icon on the speaker to enter Bluetooth Pairing Mode.
- Turn on the Bluetooth connection on your PC and go back to Windows Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Then, click on Bluetooth to let your PC scan for Bluetooth devices.
- Once your Soundcore Motion+ device is detected, click on it.
Fix #4: Install the latest drivers on your PC.
If your Soundcore Motion+ is still not being detected as an audio device in your Windows 10 PC, make sure that you have updated drivers, especially for your audio devices. The best way to do that is to ensure that you’re running the latest Windows version at this time. Just go to Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
After installing the updates, do the Fix #3 above to reset and reconnect your speaker to your PC.
