Solution #1: Verify the NBA 2K server status.

The “2KSports Server Not Available” error is usually a sign of an on-going server problem. Majority of people who encounter this problem do nothing at all except to wait until the outage or maintenance is over. If you haven’t checked what’s going on, be sure to visit the official NBA 2K website. Be sure to click on your particular platform (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games, Nintendo Switch) to know if there’s any specific problem for that  platform. If the website indicates that there’s currently a problem with your platform, you can either check the advice from 2K Sports in that site, or wait to play later.

Solution #2: Install game updates.

Steam is designed to make sure that all your games are updated all the time. By default, the Steam client will scan for available updates and prompt you if you haven’t  installed it yet. However, if you disabled the auto-update feature in the past, you may not get the prompt to  update, especially if you don’t play an online mode of NBA 2K22. Right now, be sure to check if your game is fully updated and see if the “2KSports Server Not Available” error goes away after that.

Solution #3: Reboot your device.

Sometimes, refreshing your device can take care of bugs and network issues. Make sure that you reboot your PC to see if that will help.

If you’re getting the “2KSports Server Not Available” error on a  console (PlayStation or Xbox), you can clear the system cache instead of simply restarting the device. This can sometimes help in fixing crashes, slow performance, and network issues of online games. To clear the system cache of your console, just turn it off normally and unplug it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.

Solution #4: Troubleshoot your internet connection.

If your NBA 2K22 game client is updated and there’s no known server issues, the cause of the problem may be coming from your home network. You’ll need to do a couple of interventions on your end to fix a potential issue in your connection.

The first thing that you need to do is to ensure that you power cycle your network device, that is, your modem, router, and any other network devices. Your PC or console may have encountered a network error due to an issue with your network device and the quickest way to refresh it is by rebooting it. Just like how to refresh a system cache of a console, you want to turn off your modem and router and unplug it from the power outlet for 30 seconds too.

If you’re getting the same error after restarting the modem or router, the next step is to check your internet connection speed.

The game client may be unable to connect to the servers due to a minor network bug, low-bandwidth, or intermittent connection problem.

What you can do at this point is to run a speed test on your PC or console before launching NBA 2K22 again. On your computer, pull up your browser and go to speedtest.net. Then, run a speed test and take note of three things: ping, download speed, and upload speed

You can also run a speed test on your PlayStation or Xbox.

You want to ensure that your computer is getting a minimum of 5Mbps download speed all the time in order to maintain a good connection to the servers. If your connection keeps slowing down below the minimum, or if internet keeps disconnecting, get help from your Internet Service Provider so they can take a look at your network.

Fix #5: Check your console network status.

Lastly, you want to make sure that you have an active subscription of either a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold, depending on your console.

If you have a PS4 and your PlayStation Plus subscription is not active or has expired, you won’t be use the online features of NBA 2K22 at all.

The same should be true if you have an Xbox and your Xbox Live Gold membership has expired.
