S9 Not Sending Pictures Through Text Messaging

Problem: Good afternoon, I just upgraded from a Samsung galaxy s7 to an s9 about 3 weeks ago. Ever since the upgrade I have not been able to send pictures through text messaging. My typed message will go through but for every picture that I attach, it says “canceled” on the picture! It is doing this to all of my contacts except for about two of them. I’ve tried every step in the book to correct it, even reset network settings and its not fixed. I even called tech support with my carrier and he told me to reset. I did that, it didn’t work. I don’t know how to fix this. Can you please help???

Solution: If you have an active mobile data subscription and you can’t send a picture message even if the mobile data switch if the phone is turned on then chances are your device does not have the correct APN settings. You need to make sure that your phone is using the correct APN settings. For the AT&T network the settings are listed below.

  • Name: NXTGENPHONE
  • APN: NXTGENPHONE
  • Proxy: Not set
  • Port: Not set
  • Username: Not set
  • Password: Not set
  • Server: Not set
  • MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
  • MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
  • MMS port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410
  • Authentication Type: None
  • APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri
  • APN protocol: IPv4
  • Bearer: Unspecified

S9 No Text Message Notification After Software Update

Problem: I did the most recent update on my Samsung S9 phone and now I am not getting any text message notifications. For example, the blue light is not flashing to let me know that I have a text message, and the folder that holds the text messages is not indicating a number of text messages. So now I have to physically go into the text message folder and check to see who has sent me messages.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure to check the text message notification setting.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  • Tap Messages
  • If prompted to change the default SMS app, tap YES to confirm.
  • Tap the Menu icon which is represented by three dots
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Notifications.
  • Tap the Messages switch to turn on. You can then configure the sound notification from here.

S9 Individual Text Message Notification Gone After Oreo Update

Problem: After doing the Oreo update my individual text notifications is completely gone. I primarily use my phone for texting and everyone had a specific text notification. I am wondering if it is hiding somewhere in there and I just have not been able to find it. Why would they have done away with such a useful option?

Solution: Samsung will be bringing back the individual text message notification feature on a future update as announced by the company. Just keep on checking if a new update is available on your device then update it accordingly. In the meantime you can check out some of the  third party text messaging app at Google Play Store which allows for individual text message notifications.

S9 Text Messaging App Stopped Working

Problem: Hi I don’t know if its related, but I noticed recently when I uninstall facebook messenger, my default samsung message app just stopped working. And when I tried to refresh it disappeared altogether. Now I lost my samsung message app, can’t download them from anywhere. For the time being I downloaded a messaging app from the playstore. Please help…

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete the phone will be back to its factory settings which should have the stock text messaging app working.
