S9+ Not Getting All Text Messages

Problem: Why am I not getting all of my messages on my Galaxy S9 plus? Sometimes my friends say they text me and I don’t receive the text. Then when we are together they show me that they texted and the text shows up on their telephone but does not show up on my telephone. What is the problem? I have the new Samsung Galaxy S9 plus and this is happened a few times.

Related Problem: I am using the messaging app that came with the phone.  I receive some, but not all messages. Especially in a group message, I only receive about 75% of them.  I was on the phone with AT&T for 30 min tonight and there is not anything he can do. He doesn’t have all the information about google phones.  He told me to do the factory reset. I don’t want to lose some important text messages, so I don’t want to try that. I took the sim card out and put it back in.  I deleted the cache from the messaging app. I still don’t have all the messages. Do you know what else I can try without losing old texts? or how can I backup a long string of text messages?

Related Problem: I have tried different messaging apps and still have the same occasional problem with text. Occasionally A text will not go through and I will not be able to receive texts. The text that I tried to send just says pending and does not go through. The only thing that seems to fix it is if I make a phone call and as soon as I make the call the texts I was trying to send that were pending then go through… And any texts that have been sent to me also all come in at once as soon as I make a phone call.

Related Problem: This evening I am unable to receive photos and some texts. I can send photos and text content, but am unable to receive them. I get the message “Content Not Supported” and I have NO idea who sent these to me. Not sure if this is important but it started this evening when someone with an iPhone sent me a photo. That may be a coincidence. Please help and thank you.

Solution: Assuming that your phone is getting a strong network signal what you will want to do to fix this problem is to first start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue occurs in Safe Mode then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Try using Smart Switch to backup your phone data. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. If it does then you should contact your carrier regarding this problem as this could be a network or account related problem.
