S5 Software Update Keeps Repeating Itself

Problem: the software update keeps repeating itself. a software update notification pops up, goes through with the process I press install, the phone reboots and finishes the installation. a message pops saying the software has been updated, no error codes whatsoever and then a new software update notification pops up, and does it again. the same thing every time. this has been going on for 2 days now. the software has not updated I’m still on version 5.0 I decided to do a factory reset hoping to solve the problem but unfortunately it did not help at all.

Solution: You should try updating the phone by connecting it using a USB cord to a computer with Kies running. Make sure that the update completes then restart your phone. If you are still experiencing the same issue after this then do one last round of factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Should the issue persist then I suggest that you consider flashing the updated firmware file to your phone. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 Software Is Not Updating

Problem: My phone’s software is not updating. I have tried factory resetting it, but that does not work. At random, I’ll get a new soft way of ware update available at the bottom of the screen, which disappears. Nothing shows up on the taskbar and when I check my settings for an update, it states that there is no update found. Lately, my phone has been lagging a lot, which I think could be a cause of the old software. Help?

Solution: There are certain conditions that you phone must meet in order for it to be able to get the software update.

  • The phone should be running on its original network ( This is for unlocked devices).
  • The phone must not be rooted.
  • The phone must not be running on a custom software.

If your phone meets the conditions listed above then you should try connecting it using a USB cord to a computer with Kies running. Let Kies update your phone software. If the phone software still doesn’t update then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file to your device. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 Stuck In Boot Loop

Problem: S5 stuck in boot loop. Did wipe cache partition soft and hard factory reset. Can’t get it to load in safe mode. I have been trying to download firmware and reinstall but have failed a few times always incomplete files. The Knox was tripped . This was not done by us to install custom ROM or trying to unlock from network providers. It simply froze crashed and started the boot loop. This is my daughter’s phone she has kept it in perfect condition and never had an issue until now. Any advice is appreciated thanks droidguy

Solution: I recommend that you flash the phone with its updated firmware file. You can download the complete file from the SamMobile website.

Other troubleshooting steps that you can do to resolve the boot loop issue are as follows.

  • Connect your phone to its wall charger. Check if the boot loop issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by a faulty battery. Try replacing the battery with a new one.
  • Remove the battery and microSD card of the phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the phone will boot successfully.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S5 Software Update Installation Errors

Problem: I have downloaded the update for my Samsung Galaxy S5 two times now, each being of 870MB each. The update downloads and then when i try installing it, i always get installation errors.  Can you please help me out with how to update my phone to the latest version since i’ve been using this version for over a year now.  Thanks for your help in advance

Solution: The installation error could be caused by some form of data conflicts in your phone. I’d recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete download the update again.

S5 Software Is Up To Date

Problem: I have the s5 sm-G900A, with baseband version G900AUCS4CPA4. How can I get other updates. Each time I check with Odin, OTA, Kies it tells me my software us up to date. I need help to get updates to get me to the marshmallow os.

Solution: Your phone should meet the following conditions in order for it to get the official software update.

  • If you have an unlocked device then it should be running on its original network.
  • Your phone should not be rooted.
  • Your phone should not be running on a custom software.

If your phone meets the conditions listed above and it is not getting any update then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 From Verizon Not Getting GSM LTE On AT&T

Problem: Hi I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy s5 G900V phone and I am thinking of changing my service to AT&T GSM 4G LTE.  I am told I can’t get the gsm LTE on this phone.  Is there anything I can do?  If not what are the ramifications of switching to AT&T and not getting the LTE?  AT&T put a sim card and I was able to make phone calls and get text messages.  Would I lose the ability to get data???

Solution: You won’t be able to use the LTE network of AT&T since the LTE band of Verizon is different from the band used by AT&T. This is already a hardware limitation which can’t be fixed. If you plan to proceed with the switch then you won’t be able to enjoy faster mobile data speeds that the LTE network offers. Your phone will be stuck with using the 3G network.

S5 Not Getting Software Updates

Problem: Hi, I have samsung S5- was originally bought from AT&T and then i switched to T-mobile almost 2 years ago. I just realized that the phone has not received any android  updates in a while. it is running android version 4.4.4. Talked to tmobile support and they suggested installing smart switch and updating android. however smartswitch says that the phone has the latest updates.  Is there a way i can upgrade to Lollipop or beyond? Model: SM-G900A Baseband version: G900AUCU2AOA1

Solution: The most likely reason why your phone is not getting the update is because it is unable to access the AT&T servers due to the phone running on the T-Mobile network. Try connecting the phone using a USB cord to a computer with Kies running and let the software update your phone. If the issue remains then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try checking for the update again.

Should the issue remain then you should consider flashing the updated firmware file to your phone. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
