A5 Screen Not Working After Getting Wet

Problem: Hello. I have recently encountered this problem with my Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017). After it had direct contact with water, the phone suddenly turned off, which of course shouldn’t happen since as we both probably know, the phone is supposed to be waterproof. After a while the phone seems to be on, as I can definitely hear the notification sound, but the screen is turned off, as well as the back button, only the recent button is somehow on, sometimes is flashing, but everything tied to touching the screen seems non-responsive. For the moment I can’t afford getting either a new phone or pay a tech to check it out, so I have to resort on trying to fix it with your help.

Related Problem: style=”font-weight: 400;”> Hi. I have a samsung A5 2017 and yesterday I tried to take some photos under water (at sea). It worked perfectly for 15 minutes, I took it out and let it dry for 10 minutes and then again in water. After another 5 minutes the screen stopped responding: it would turn on, I could even take photos (all the buttons work perfectly), but the screen wouldn’t respond when I touch it. Is there anything I could do??

Solution: Although this phone has  a water resistant feature it’s still possible that it can get water damaged. This usually occurs when the phone has a broken water seal which allows water to seep into the phone. What you will want to do in this case is to turn the phone off then wipe the exterior part with a cloth making sure that the phone is dry. Since moisture is most likely present inside the device what you will want to do next is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done start the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the issue still persists after this then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked since the display might be water damaged.

A5 Not Getting Software Update

Problem: Hi, 6 months ago I bought Samsung Galaxy A5 2017, but already having problems with it. First of all, I am unable to update software; if I go to manually update (from settings) it doesn’t even searches for new updates, doesn’t register that I tapped on “manually update”. Second, when I want to download some app it comes to 100% and stays like that. Install is finished hours later or even a day. Sometimes is not at all. Third, it doesn’t want to make a phone call always, I’m pressing name or call sign and about 5 min later starts calling, not immediately. Also, I am unable to copy/paste. I did the reset but made no difference. Thank you for your help!

Solution: There are several conditions that your phone must meet in order for it to get the official software updates.

  • The phone should not be rooted
  • The phone should not be running on a custom software
  • If you had the phone unlocked then it should be running on its original network.

In case your phone meets the above listed conditions and it is still not getting updates then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try updating your phone again. It’s also recommended that you use Smart Switch in updating your device.

If the update fails then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file to your device. You can get the file from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

A5 Is Not Charging

Problem: Hello. My phone is out of power and I tried everything to charge it. It now remains dead and I can’t even try anything at all to even see a charging symbol appear. I bought a new phone charger today from Carphone Warehouse where they tested it and they ended up bringing up a charging symbol. But now where I have the charger back home, nothing is happening at all. I still see no power at all and no signs of the phone charging. The phone recently had a software update too. And it isn’t even long since I bought the device. I really need this phone but now it isn’t working.

Solution: What you should do first right now is to clean the charging port of the phone making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port gts removed. Try using a can of compressed air to clean the port. Once this is done try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using the new charger. If the phone still does not charge then perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Once this is done try charging the phone again. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as the problem could be caused by a faulty battery or a faulty charging port.

A5 Not Fast Charging

Problem: Hi. I dropped my phone while it was charging and now my A5 (2017) phone will not fast charge. It charges, but it isn’t fast charging and the wire is very loose. I tried using another cord, And it had fast charging on that cord. Is this an issue with my cord? Or is there now a problem with my charging port? I’m still under warranty so I was wondering if it could be replaced. ( I had the same issue with my S3, but I’m scared that if i use another cord it will become loose, as my every single one of my s3 chargers did after I dropped it.)

Solution: If you have tried using a different cord and the phone still does not fast charge then this might already be a problem with the charging port since you mentioned that it is also loose. The best thing to do right now is to have the port checked at a service center. It’s possible that this port will have to be replaced.

A5 Not Turning On

Problem: Woke up in the morning and I realised the phone had shut down and won’t turn back on. Thought it may have needed charging so plugged it in to charge but nothing happened even after an hour. I already tried all the steps of holding down the power key and volume down key etc. But nothing happened. It’s a Samsung galaxy A5 2016 and the battery cannot be removed.

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge to turn on the phone by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the issue persists then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

A5 Deletes Files From Phone And microSD Card

Problem: Hi there I just bought an 8gb Kingston SD card for my Samsung Galaxy A5 today. I mounted it and moved some video files to the sd card to free up some space on my phone’s memory. After the file transfer was completed I went to delete the files from the phone only and it deleted them off both the phone and sd card. I was hoping you could help me so this doesn’t happen in again in the future with more important things such as my pictures on the phone which I can’t afford to lose. Thanks

Solution: Did you delete the video files from the Gallery app? If you did this then there’s a chance that you were deleting them from the microSD card. Here’s what most likely happened in this scenario. When you transferred the file from the phone internal memory to the microSD card you probably used the move command. This will delete the file from the internal memory and transfer it to the microSD card. The Gallery app will still detect the file you moved but this time it is reading it from the microSD card and not from the internal storage. If you use the Gallery app to delete the file ( which you think is still stored in the internal storage) it is in fact deleting the file from the microSD card. The best way to check if you are deleting the correct file is to use a file manager app since you will know the precise location where the file is stored.
