P9 Screen Not Working After Getting Wet

Problem: Hi there, I dropped my Huawei P9 in water yesterday, I have since had it in rice and silica gels overnight.  I booted it back in this morning.  I am getting noises from it as if I’m getting messages and emails etc, but the screen is around 1/3 size of normal and I cannot log in without a number pad (not there).  I have tried reboot, I have tried opening in safe mode, but it keeps coming back to the same screen – 1/3 size of the normal screen. I don’t know what the Android system is but the phone is only three months old if that helps?Any help or advice please? Thanks

Solution: Although this phone has some certain degree of water resistance it is in no way waterproof. Since you dropped your phone in water it’s very likely that the display or some other component has already been water damaged. If placing the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours to eliminate the moisture in the phone does not fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

P9 Screen Has Black Vertical Lines

Problem: I just replaced my Huawei P9 screen after it broke. after leaving the shop, i noticed that the colors appear lighter and there are very light vertical black lines on the right side of the screen. the repair guy says he can not replace the screen cause he removed the warranty tag from it. can this issue be solved without having to buy another screen?

Solution: You can try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. If the same issue occurs even after the reset then the problem is caused by the display itself. You should have this replaced at the service center.

P9 Charger Is Not Working

Problem: Hello, My charger adapter is not working. I’ve just bought Huawei P9 for only 3 months and this adapter has never dropped. The cable is good. And I suspect it is the adapter. Because I could still charge my phone over my power bank. Even my previous phone’s charger had around 4 years lifespan. I’m really disappointed with the quality or should I say my luck for getting this easily-faulty adapter. I hope I could be compensated, really… Thanks.

Solution: To verify if it really is the wall charger that is causing the problem then you should try using a different wall charge on your phone. In case the issue does not occur with this other charger then you should check your warranty if you can have the charger replaced since it is only 3 months old.

P9 Got Bricked

Problem: Hi! Yesterday I rooted my Huawei P9 by unlocking bootloader and installing TWRP. I installed SuperSU and it was rooted. Then I removed some Chinese bloatware. I tried to install Google Assistant. For that, I installed Xposed Framework through TWPR and then checked it in Xposed Module app. Then I installed Android N-ify and Google assistant module and checked them in Xposed Module App. My Google assistant got activated and was working well. But the problem was with my sim cards. My phone did not detect my sim cards and when I checked in Settings, “Dual Sim Card Management” was not opening. I restarted my phone and again it started working. Today when i restarted my phone, again it did not detect the sim cards. I tried restarting my phone a few times but nothing helped. Here’s the blunder I made. I switched off my phone, Pressed Power UP + power and went into TWRP, go into WIPE, Advanced Wipe and checked System and wiped. Oops, seems I have wiped out the OS. Now I am stuck with a bricked phone. Please help. How can I again reload the OS in the phone. Also, can I load European dual sim rom instead of my Chinese one that was pre installed. Please Help.

Solution: You will need to flash your phone again with its firmware file. You can follow this guide from the XDA forums. https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/how-to-revert-to-stock-rom-t3407132

P9 Screen Has Black And White Stripes

Problem: since 1 am in the morning today (28/10/2017) my phone just automatically gave a barcode screen, like white and black stripes and then it started to flicker, and ever since then I can’t access my phone, it won’t do anything except give me a bar code display on the screen, even turning it off won’t work cause the phone won’t listen to any of my orders, I have no idea what to do or why this is is happening, I didn’t drop the phone, I didn’t make it wet, I did absolutely nothing but hold it? what can i do to fix this?

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

  • Hold down the Power key in order to turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up + Power button at the same time for a few seconds.
  • Release held keys as soon as the Huawei logo appears on the screen.
  • Select using Volume buttons option “wipe data/factory reset”, and confirm that with Power button.
  • Choose “wipe data/factory reset”  from the menu, and accept it with Power key.
  • Choose the “reboot system now” using Power button.

If the issue persists then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
