Troubleshooting Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Bluetooth Pairing Failed & Other Related Issues

The #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 is one of the smartphone models out in the market that has several great features. One feature that most owners of this device use often is its Bluetooth functionality. The #GalaxyNote4 uses Bluetooth v4.1 which provides better power management and improved data transfers between various other Bluetooth devices. This makes it easier for the phone to pair with other Bluetooth devices. There are however instances when some owners will experience the Note 4 Bluetooth pairing failed issues. This and other related issues are what we will be covering in this latest installment of our troubleshooting series.

Note 4 Bluetooth Pairing Failed With Hyundai Sonata

Problem: I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.  Not all the time, but sometimes, when I turn my car on it will say “”pairing failed””.  So I have to delete the phone from the settings in my car and on my phone then reinstall it all over again.  Not sure if this is a car issue, or a bluetooth issue.  I would appreciate any suggestions you may have! Thank you!

Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update.

I suggest checking first if an app is causing this problem by deleting the Bluetooth connection from your phone and car then starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode the phone only allows the pre-installed apps to run while apps that you downloaded are disabled. Once your phone is in Safe Mode pair it again to your car then observe if the problem still occurs. If the pairing failed issue does not occur anymore then there may be an app installed in your phone that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. If this issue is caused by a corrupt temporary data then this procedure will resolve the issue.

If at this point the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the factory reset has finished then pair your phone again with your car.

Note 4 Sound Randomly Decreases When Connected To Bluetooth Device

Problem: When connected to a Bluetooth device, albeit headphones or car, the Media volume will randomly turn itself down 1 click. The screen can be off and it will occur,and it’s completely random but WI occur several times. I’ve tried removing my battery for several minutes, removing my case, cleaned my phone with CCleaner, and hibernated all of my apps with Greenify (yes I am rooted). This issue started occurring in the last few days and I can’t figure it out. I tried a couple apps from the Play Store but nothing is working. I’d rather not factory reset if I don’t have to. Any ideas?

Solution: The most common cause of the volume changing when your device is connected to a Bluetooth device is corrupt temporary data. This is what you should check first. Go to the Bluetooth app from Settings- Apps Manager – All Tab. Select Bluetooth then click on Force Stop. Once the app has stopped click on Clear cache then clear data. This clears the Bluetooth data which may resolve the issue.

If the problem still persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery menu. This clears out the phone cached data which in some cases gets corrupt and may cause this issue.

Another possible cause to this issue is that a third party app installed in your phone could be interfering with the Bluetooth volume. You should start your phone in Safe Mode to check if this is the case. Once your phone is in this mode and the issue does not occur then the problem may be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Finally, if all else fails you should back up your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Can’t Make Outgoing Calls When Connected To Car Bluetooth

Problem: The issue  is with my bluetooth…I have a VW Touraeg..My phone when in lock screen mode does not allow outgoing calls through the vehicle interface….I can receive calls via the vehicle interface but to make an outgoing call I have to swipe my finger to unlock and then the phone sleeps again. VW confirmed the bluetooth in the car is not malfunctioning but the phones lock screen is causing the problem. I had an S5 which worked without issue. Reaching for the phone to swipe is a bit dangerous and hope you can help me out on this. Other than this issue I really like the phone.

Solution: Try to delete the Bluetooth connection from your phone and your car. Pair your phone and the car again and check if the issue still occurs. If it does then force stop the Bluetooth app ( Go to Settings – App Manager – All tab). Once your phone Bluetooth has stopped click on clear cache and clear data. This deletes the temporary data stored in your phone Bluetooth app that may be causing the problem.

Check and see if the problem still occurs. If the issue has not been resolved then wipe the cache partition of your phone.

Finally, if the above troubleshooting steps fail you should back up your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Drops Bluetooth Connection When On Call

Problem: I have not seen anything in your forum here on bluetooth.  I have a fitbit that is set to bluetooth to my phone so it updates the app to track my activities. Also I use my Garmin GPS bluetooth to talk hands free.  Now I am using bluetooth connected to my gm vehicle hands free option.  Now my issue.  I had a galaxy note 3, Verizon said I needed to go to a note 4 so I could use it at my home with their weak service. This allowed me data calling.  Anyway, since I got the note 4, if I am on a call through my GPS it drops the bluetooth and the call transfers back to my phone and I have to grab it to talk. The bluetooth symbol on my phone is still green like it’s connected. Now it’s doing the same thing with my gm vehicle hands free option.  However the gm vehicle and Garmin GPS will say their is no connection to bluetooth,  but it still shows on my note 4 that bluetooth is still connected.  It’s more annoying than anything. If you wait 30 seconds it will connect again and you can continue your conversation. Verizon wants me to do a factory reset, that is not an option,  it takes too long to put items back on the phone and it uses data. I don’t have cable TV or WiFi spots to use.  This happens with the Garmin GPS in one vehicle and now in the second vehicle. So I’m not convinced it’s my Garmin and now my gm vehicle. Any ideas? Thanks for your input.

Solution: If a factory reset is not an option then you should try clearing the cache and data of your phone Bluetooth app first. To do this head over to Settings then App Manager. Swipe to the All tab then search for the Bluetooth app. Click on Force Stop first before clicking on clear cache and clear data.

If the problem still persists then you can proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery menu. This only takes out the temporary data in your phone system which could be causing this issue.

Sometimes a third party app installed in your phone could also be causing this issue. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the problem still occurs. If it doesn’t then it may be caused by an app you downloaded to your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Note 4 Crashes When Bluetooth Is Turned Off

Problem: When I turn off my Bluetooth,  after listening to music over Bluetooth speaker or just turning it off overall, 3 out 4 times my note 4 crashes and resets. It’s very frustrating and I don’t know what it could be.

Solution: This could be a problem caused by some corrupt data on your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your device from recovery mode first and see if this resolves the issue. If the problem persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
