Note 4 Only Starts When Battery Is Removed Then Reinstalled
Problem: Ok I’ll try provide all the research I’ve done and read my note 4 is and has been like new I love the phone I even just got the s8+ bcuz of issues w my note 4 but I would like to fix it go back to it or sell it for the note 8 ,problems started ,lagging and freezing ,bought a new anker battery got somewhat better tried cleaning phone up the basics, freezing lagging got worse tried factory reset didn’t work first time second time went into boot loop thought it was done through all your articles I found it was after the beginning of the year update may be the same culprit a lot are having, I got the phone back on installed wakelock app phone works 100% normal BUT I see I now have a new software update trying to install the update hoping it is the permanent fix during the update the phone needs to restart and when it does that or if the phone gets shut off it will not turn back on ,what I do to fix this has been take battery out let sit out for few hrs reinstall battery phone w turn on I activate wake lock app phone works ….please any advice on a permanent fix for this boot loop or issue I have tried many new batteries same thing I have leave battery out for few hrs then it will finally turn back on
Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset on this phone the next step that you need to do is to get a new battery and check if this fixes the problem. You should also remove the microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed).
In case you still have to remove then reinstall the battery just to turn on the phone after performing the steps listed above then this is most likely caused by a faulty power IC. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
Note 4 Stuck In Download Mode Not Starting
Problem: My note 4 wouldn’t respond for several months…plugged it in last night and it started charging for the first time in a long time. Then, after it charged fully, I found your website and tried the last step of holding the up volume, home key, and power button. It responded. I then reverse troubleshot it from their. When I tried to start in safe mode, I got the failed to boot error message with the downloading don’t turn off message. This is the original message I received months ago when it stopped responding. Anyway, I left it there for more than a half hour with no change. Then I found a youtube video that advised it was safe to back out of this and the person’s phone restarted and booted normally. I tried this and the phone shut down, again no longer responding. I’ve removed the battery and followed all of the troubleshooting items on your page. I swapped batteries with a friend and his battery didn’t work in my phone either. My battery showed 85% remaining when in his phone. Any idea what I can do to get my phone to respond again?
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to remove the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Next, you will have to reinsert just the battery then turn on the phone. If the phone does not turn on then you should try connecting it to its charger while turning the phone on.
Once the phone turns on your aim is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
Alternatively, you can also perform the factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note though that your data will be deleted in the process.
By doing a factory reset you will be able to check if some software glitch is causing the problem.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can get this file from the Sammobile website. This is also where you will be able to get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
If the issue remains unresolved at this point then this might already be a hardware related problem in which case you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Keeps On Restarting
Problem: Hi, Recently my Note 4 restarted itself over and over again. After that, it turned off and I could never turn it back on again. When I plug it in, it won’t even show me if it’s charging or not. It does not respond to anything at all. I’ve tried everything (volume up, home button, power button/ volume down, home button, power button/ even smacking the power button to the wall etc…..) nothing has worked for me, which is pretty annoying, because if I could turn it on, I would clear the cache partition and it would probably solve the turning on and off by itself. Please give me the right solution for this problem, because I don’t want to chuck this beauty in the bin.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris that’s stuck in this port is removed.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
If the battery does not charge then try getting a new battery. Check if the phone can turn on with the new battery installed.
Once the phone turns on I would suggest that you perform a factory reset to eliminate any software glitches that could be causing this problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. You also need to remove the microSD card of the phone if one is installed as this has been known to cause rebooting issues if it has corrupted sectors.
Note 4 Not Turning On
Problem: Hello, I was having issues with my phone with the battery being drained. It would turn off at 52% and I would have to put in the charger. As the days went by and percentage went up to 64%, it would turn off, 76% it would turn off then when it got to 95% it turned off and would nit come back on. The sprint tech said that the battery was fully charged its an internal issues. I took it to a battery shop and they told me the battery failed. But when I bought the new battery, my phone still did not come on. When you put it on charge there’s no indication lights that it is working. I had a bad feeling about it but it went off as I was in the middle of backing up my Samsung account. Can you please give me any other advice. I am continuing to try the power button and removing the battery for 2 days now. Any advise is very much appreciated. Thanks
Solution: If the phone does not turn on even with a new battery installed then this could already be a hardware related problem. The possible culprits include the following.
- Power IC
- Power button
- Motherboard
The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 No Command Error
Problem: Good day Sir, My Samsung galaxy note 4 fell into a bucket of soaked clothes and i used vacuum to suck out all of the water i turned it on and everything seemed fine. four (4) days later the phone froze, i tried updating the software after constantly rebooting and the it was stuck in “installing software updates” for like 5 mins then after that it will show “no command” and go off completely. then sometimes it gives error messages like “could not do normal boot” Odin mode (high speed) “downloading do not turn off target”. I really need a solution. Thanks in advance
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to remove the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed ). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on the phone. If the problem still occurs then you will have to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. You can download the file from the Sammobile website. This is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
Note 4 Randomly Turning Off
Problem: Hey I purchased the note 4 but it’s decoding a nightmare. It randomly turns off and won’t turn back on for nothing. Like today it hasn’t turned on for 2 days and all the sudden it randomly turned on. When it’s on an I’m on it it’s perfect but then it just shuts off. I took it to a cell phone repair shop they charged me an then said they fixed it and they didn’t. I took it back and they said they couldn’t fix it. I’ve done the reset and done the safe mode. I’ve gotten new batteries. Nothing is working. I can’t afford a new phone now and I’m a single mom with a 2 year old so I desperately need my phone at all times is there anyway that you can help me please I’m willing to try anything.
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and have also replaced the battery then this is most likely a hardware related issue already possibly caused by a faulty power IC. The best the best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
