Hello Google Pixel fans! This new troubleshooting article will try to resolve three #GooglePixel2 issues sent our way. As usual, the cases mentioned below came from reports by some members of our community. To help them, we include the solutions that they can try.

If you are looking for solutions to your own #Android issue, you can contact us by using the link provided at the bottom of this page. When describing your issue, please be as detailed as possible so we can easily pinpoint a relevant solution. If you can, kindly include the exact error messages you are getting to give us an idea where to start. If you have already tried some troubleshooting steps before emailing us, make sure to mention them so we can skip them in our answers.

Problem #1: How to connect Google Pixel 2 to TV without wifi or internet

I have a cottage and there is no internet or wifi in the area. I have a Google Pixel 2 phone with Netflix and movies downloaded on it. My service provider is Bell. I am looking on a way to connect my phone to my samsung tv to watch shows without wifi or internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: We’re not aware of any TV that allows direct wireless connection to a phone. Mirroring your phone’s screen to a TV almost always needs a router in between them so you’re out of luck. What you can do is to connect your phone directly to your TV via USB connection (you’ll need a special adapter and cable for this) to play offline content.

Problem #2: How to fix Google Pixel 2 camera issue: camera keeps freezing

Having same freezing camera issue since I bought the thing last Nov. First it said ‘unable to communicate with camera’s now ‘fatal error’ both messages bring up a form to report issue. I have sent this ‘report’ dozens of times. I now how troublesome it can be to fix these things, especially when intermittent. Same thing happens when using ‘ Open Camera’. This message is for your information. You seem to have the most thorough troubleshooting coverage of this I have seen.. I have contacted Google to get this hardware replaced as same issue with Android 9 pie. No reply. Sincerely.

Solution: Have you tried factory reset? As long there’s no hardware-related issue, factory reset gives you a good chance that your issues will be fixed. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Press and hold down the Power button until the device powers off completely.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down button for about 3 seconds.
  3. After 3 seconds, press the Power key while still holding down the Volume Down button for another 3 seconds then release both buttons.
  4. Use the Volume Down or Up button to highlight Recovery from the given options.
  5. Press the Power key to confirm selection.
  6. When the Android logo appears on the screen, hold down the Power key for about 2 seconds.
  7. While holding the Power key, quickly press the Volume Up button.
  8. Highlight the option to Wipe data/factory reset by pressing the Volume button then press the Power key to confirm selection.
  9. Use the Volume button to select Yes — delete all user data option then press Power to confirm.

Problem #3: Google Pixel 2 won’t boot up after accidental drop

I  drop my phone, and then the photos app started to shut down every second. I decide to restart my phone but it has been loading for 5 hours. It stays in the a white background with a G  and a bar underneath. what shall I do, TOMORROW its my birthday and i want it to use the camera because it has a such high quality, if someone that speaks Spanish can reply back i will be so grateful, if no one is available , its fine i can try to understand.  thank you <3 <3 Details Bootloader: mw8998-002.006.00 baseband: g8998-00202-1802061358 Product revision: walleye MP1 Serial Number: HT7A61A04613 UFS: 64GB Samsung LPDDR4 Boot-slot: b Console: DISABLED Secure Boot: yes (PRODUCTION) Device state: locked

Solution: If your Pixel 2 has been working fine normally before it was dropped, then the most likely reason why it’s no longer booting up is hardware-related. Try to reboot it to Recovery Mode first. If you can do that, there’s a chance a factory reset may allow it to start back up normally. Below are the steps to boot to Recovery Mode:

  1. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.

Once the phone has booted to Recovery Mode, you will have options to choose from. You want to highlight Wipe data/factory reset in order to factory reset the device.

If your phone won’t boot to Recovery Mode at all, or if nothing happens after doing a factory reset, that’s an indication that you have a bad hardware issue. Contact Google so they can repair or replace it.
