How To Fix LG G7 ThinQ Boots To Recovery Mode

Problem: I recently backed up my images from my phone and SD card to an external drive. During the process the access to my phones SD card and phone froze while backing up so I had to close the window down, remove the wire from the laptop and start again. I turned my phone off and put it on charge, on doing so the phone started to vibrate intermittently and was not charging. So I unplugged it and plugged it in again but it was still vibrating intermittently. I took the wire out again and turned on my phone but it went to recovering booting (blue writing to right hand corner). I managed to put in on safe mode pressing the down voluming key when the logo came up which worked. But on turning off the phone it went to recovery booting again. I cleared the cache but this did not work. I decided to factory set the phone but I am still getting the same problems when rebooting the phone, it still goes to recovery booting and intermittently vibrating when plugged in to charge when the phone is off. Also the down volume button doesn’t seem to be responding when I press it. Could you kindly help advise what to do or what the problem might be?

Solution: It’s very likely that the issue is caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly the volume up button which is always activating or is shorted. This will explain the reason as to why the phone will always enter the recovery mode whenever it is restarted. To troubleshoot this issue you should first backup your phone data then do a factory reset in recovery mode.

  • Switch off the mobile by pressing the Power key for a few seconds.
  • After that hold down Volume Down and Power buttons for a short while.
  • When the LG logo appears, let go of the Power key, keep pressing the Volume Down and then push once more the Power key.
  • Let go of all keys when Factory data reset appears.
  • Choose “Yes” two times. Use Volume keys to scroll down and the Power button to accept it.

In case the issue persists even after a factory reset then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
