The following steps demonstrate the actual process of setting up face recognition and fingerprint authentication on the new Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphone. To get started, swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen.
Doing so will pull up the Apps screen.
From the Apps screen, tap Settings.
The Settings app along with different system features and options to configure will be launched.
Scroll down and tap Biometrics and security from the settings menu.
Doing so will open a new screen containing various advanced security methods you can use.Among these are Face recognition and Fingerprints.
To set up Face recognition, tap Face recognition.
You will be asked to enter your device pattern to confirm. That said, enter your unlock pattern if prompted to proceed.
Select the option to Register your face then tap Continue.
A wizard containing the actual instructions to register your face will show up next.Just follow the onscreen prompts to start registering your face.
To set up Fingerprints authentication, go back to the Biometrics and security menu and then tap Fingerprints.
On the next screen, you will see a list of relevant options including fingerprint setup or registration.
Tap the option to Add fingerprint.
This will prompt the device to register a new fingerprint to use as an unlock method. Be sure to enable Fingerprint unlock by turning on the switch next to it.
Read and review the note about screen covers and protectors then tap OK to continue.
After that, you’ll be routed to a screen where you can start registering a new fingerprint.
Simply tap the scan icon to start scanning your fingerprint.
Be sure to follow the onscreen instructions to successfully register your fingerprint.
