A3 Unable To Send Text Messages To Premium Numbers

Problem: Hi I have a Samsung A3 and I have been unable to send text messages to 5 digit numbers for a while. I want to donate to certain charities this way and also opt out of my local pizza shop frequently texting me! Please can you offer any advice? When I try to send a message I bet a message failed response but no further explanation.

Solution: If you are able to send a text message to regular phone numbers but can’t to premium numbers then there’s a possibility that this is just setting related problem. You will need to give the phone permission to send messages to these special numbers by following the steps listed below.

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Applications
  • Tap Application Manager
  • Tap More
  • Choose Show System Apps
  • Tap Message Service
  • Press on (Send Premium SMS)
  • Select: (Ask : for verifying each time you try to send premium SMS.) or ( Always Allow : for complete accessing to send premium SMS without asking.)

In case the you are unable to access the above steps then the best way to proceed is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete send a text message to a premium number. A popup will appear where you should choose the always allow option.

A3 Is Lagging

Problem: I have having issues with my Galaxy A3.  Similar to what others have written but worse.  Everything is lagging.  And I mean lagging.  Just turning on the phone is a chore.  The startup animation (the Samsung logo) is even slow and takes forever.  Once on, EVERYTHING is slow.  Every app, even just swiping from one screen to the next.  You click an app, sit back for about 4 seconds or more, then it slowly turns on.  Typing a text.  I will type a sentence, then stop, watch the screen and about 5 seconds later the words start appearing on screen.  Also occurring (and probably the same issue, not sure) the phone turns itself off.  As soon as I stop using it, the phone powers down.  I then have to restart it every time.  It’s basically unusable.  One last weird thing it does, when it is powered down, if you move the phone, you feel it vibrate inside.  So, is my phone repairable?  Anything I can do or do I need to just get rid of it.  Hoping not, as I don’t have any money right now.  Thanks!

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then from the recovery mode perform the following steps.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone
  • Do a factory reset.

Before turning on the phone make sure that you have removed the microSD card ( if one is installed).

In case the issue still occurs even after a factory reset then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

A3 Apps Not Opening After Latest Software Update

Problem: Since the most recent update, I am unable to open most apps on my phone, I have tried everything suggested online and still unable to access them. I have just about had enough with your technology, I pay a monthly contract that I cannot stop as I know I would be in trouble for doing so and chased for money yet it is alright for your company not to provide a decent enough service that was agreed to in the first place. What’s the point in paying for the device if I can’t use it and for data when I can’t access internet apps?

Related Problem: I’m unable to open certain apps. The message “Google play services has stopped” being the most common message that I receive. I’ve cleared the cache, forced stopped and installed the latest version of Google play services to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to make sure that your phone apps are updated. You can do this by accessing the My Apps section of the Google Play Store app. From here you will get a list of all the apps that need to be updated. Update your phone accordingly.

In case the issue still occurs even if your phone apps are all updated then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

A3 Screen Is Blank

Problem: If the Back and Recent Apps buttons can light up but the screen is randomly blank, can this still be a hardware problem? I’ve been searching all over your site and elsewhere, and can’t find the answer to this problem:  I’m having an intermittent black screen (with random fuzzy glitches and brief moments of screen visibility when I try to bring it back up), and though I haven’t tried a factory reset yet (lots of soft resets though) I suspect it’s a hardware problem. However, when my screen is black, the Recent Apps and Back buttons both will light up just fine even when the rest of the screen is blank. I can’t find whether this means that it’s NOT a hardware problem, or if those work independently of the screen. If it can’t be a hardware problem if those buttons light up, then I know I need to look elsewhere and I’ll the $$ to replace it.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to perform a factory reset on the phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before performing this step. If the issue still occurs after the reset then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring it to a service center and have it checked.

A3 Black Screen Of Death

Problem: Hey, I hope you’re okay with questions. I’ve search through your answers and some others but just not finding the answer I need. I have a Galaxy A3 I was cleaning the mower deck one day and the type it is you have to lift it and it flips out and faces you. In doing that I had unintentionally put a lot of pressure on the phone in my pocket. I remember it was enough to start thinking oh my God I’m going to break the screen. Well it didn’t break but the screen was black. The buttons on each side of the home button at the bottom lit up so I knew I had power. It works but not right! It sounds kind of like the black screen of death. The phone is slower, using data only it uploads way faster than it downloads. On Wi-Fi it acts fine. It seems like the battery might be draining faster. So I bought a brand new OEM battery and it acts the same as my original battery. So for giggles I flashed it back to a previous software version and updated it back to the point it was in hopes that might do something. I flash a clockworkmod on it as well and had the same issues. Now I know it worked fine before that because I had just put it in my pocket from sending a text. Once I stressed it in my pocket as I mentioned I pulled it out and it wasn’t going the screen was black. So it’s clearly a hardware or software problem. Right? LOL I’ve never found anywhere mentioning what causes the black screen of death if it’s known? I’ve seen that you can get lucky and it starts working like mine did.  I’ve looked at maybe buying a A3 with a broken screen or a phone with no screen online and putting mine in it, but I’m afraid to get another one that’s acting like this one! I’d like to say I’m being a cheap ass by not just getting a new phone but the fact is I simply can’t afford it. So I guess I’m looking for more information if there is any about the cause of the black screen of death problem? Or if there’s some other knowledge you may have? Thank you very much for your time and input.

Solution: This is very likely a hardware related problem already. Unfortunately in this case it is going to be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem unless it is the phone is examined. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. Once the failing component is detected you can then proceed on what to do next.
