Note 4 Reboot Loop

Problem: Please Help! My Samsung Note 4 keeps on rebooting. If I keep it on charge it stays on. Battery was at 80%. Then it switched off. Then rebooted. Then it says battery critically low. 1%. But when I put it back on charge it’s 60 – 80. It stays on when on charge. But the minute I remove it it reboots continuously. I’ve checked the software and it was updated. Thanks for assisting!

Solution: Since this reboot loop only occurs when the phone isn’t connected to its charger the first thing that you should check is the battery itself. If this battery is not holding its usually charge anymore or if it is faulty this kind of issue occurs. Try replacing the battery with a new one then check if the problem gets fixed.

If the issue still remains then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will eliminate the possibility of this issue being caused by a glitch in the phone software.

If both steps listed above fails then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

Note 4 Boot Loop Not Turning On

Problem: I was using my phone and out of nowhere turned off, but when it started back up i noticed it was stuck rebooting. i decided to remove the battery and left it out for at least 2 hours. when i put it back inside, the phone turned on normally, but before i could do anything with it, it restarted again and again. did the same thing removed the battery for hours. i tried again to see if it was working now, but it did the same thing over and over. finally the phone went black. i tried charging the phone, maybe the battery had ran out, didn’t work. i saw some videos that showed how to restart the phone, didn’t work. i tried connecting it to the laptop, but the laptop wont even read the phone so nothing pops up once connected. also none of the notifications or “back” button flash. i know it’s an old phone, but i really want to start it again because i had everything in there and nothing backed up. any suggestions?

Solution: What you can do first in this issue is to try to charge the battery first. Follow the steps listed below to do this.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be lodged in this port and can cause charging issues.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the phone still does not turn on or charge then it’s time to try using a new battery on your phone. If your phone battery is causing this problem then replacing this will resolve the problem.

Should the issue still occur even after performing the steps listed above then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this might already be caused by a component inside your phone that’s faulty.

Note 4 Slow Charging

Problem: Hello, thanks for the forum and help in advance. My phone is really slow to charge, the fast charging function doesn’t work any more and if I am using the phone it dies quicker than it charges. Also it will not connect to my computer. I have tried multiple batteries and multiple cables. I did wipe out my charging port with an alcohol dipped microbrush. Any thoughts? I feel like the charging port might just be messed up. Oh and I did do a factory reset. Thanks for listening!

Solution: There’s a possibility that this issue is caused by either a faulty battery or charging port. Try getting a new battery first and see if this fixes the issue. If it doesn’t then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center as this could be caused by a faulty charging port.

Note 4 Turns On Then Off After Getting Wet

Problem: My phone was briefly submerged in seawater two days ago. I removed the battery and put in in a bag of rice for about 48 hours. When I turned it to day, it constantly turns on and off. It is Samsung Note 4. I have removed both the SIM cards and the microSD card. I can briefly see my screen saver but it turns off in a minute. The battery is currently at 30%.I don’t reboot it for fear of loss of some data on the phone memory. Thank you for your help

Solution: You should try using a new battery on your phone first to check if the battery is causing this problem. If the problem still occurs then you should have your phone checked at a service center since it’s most likely that some internal component in your device has become damaged when the phone got wet.

Note 4 Blue Light When Charging Not Turning On

Problem: My phone was charging was on and charging on 94% when I came back to my phone the charger was still in but my phone was off and instead of a red light to say it’s charging or a green light to say it’s done charging there was a blue light I tried to turn on my phone it did not work I tried this multiple times my phone still did not turn on so I took out my battery and tried to turn it on again still did not work i changed my battery and tried to turn on my phone again still did not work now every time I plug in my charger a blue light comes on and when I unplug the charger the blue light does not go away unless I take out the battery I looked at the back of my phone and realized that one of my screws is loose could that be the problem or something else.

Solution: The blue light that you see in your phone may mean any of the following

  • Pulses in multi-tone blue while the device is turning on or off.
  • Blinks blue for a missed call, message or other notification.
  • Blinks blue when you are recording a voice.

If you are seeing a steady blue light then it’s possible that the phone is stuck in its booting process. Take out the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM.

Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.

If the phone does not turn on then try starting your device in recovery mode. This is a separate environment from the main operating system and is a good way to check if the phone software is causing this issue. If you are able to access the recovery mode then I suggest you perform a factory reset. Take note that you will lose your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Crashed After Charging Using Laptop

Problem: I always have my phone charging on my laptop, and today my laptop crashed and so did my phone about the same time. Immediately i grabbed my phone and hit the power button and even held it down but still nothing. Then i plugged in to the charger and the charging icon pops up every 3-4 seconds and then immediately off again. (it constantly repeats.)  Now none of the resets work, except where i press the volume down, power and home button and it downloads the stuff again but shows that it is frozen on that screen.( This is a galaxy note 4) what do i do? i need help asap!

Solution: Try using a different charging cord and wall charger when charging your phone. If the issue still occurs then try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw.

You should also try using a new battery on your phone to check if a faulty battery is causing this problem.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Freezes Shuts Down After Software Update

Problem: samsung galaxy note 4.  updated software a week before problem occurs. latest version says 6.0.1 problem starts sudden shut off, then freeze, hang very often.. then reset to factory and cleared cache. problem still the same.  after few days i keep updating the software, now not sure bcoz of that or what, freezing is not happening that often but shut off often. then does not restart from power button. but if everytime i disconnect the battery and put it back after a minute, and then restart it works. but i have to do it many times a day.  what can be the reason?

Solution: I recommend that you do another round of factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then try getting a new battery.

Should the issue still occur even when using a new battery then the problem could either be caused by the latest software update or it could also be caused by a failing hardware component.

You should consider flashing your phone first with its previous stock firmware version. Instruction on how to flash the phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

If flashing the phone software doesn’t work then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware issue.

Note 4 Reboot Loop When Battery Level Below 30%

Problem: Updated the phone as Verizon sent the notice, about a month ago. Ever since it goes into a reboot loop when the battery gets below about 30%. Sometimes I can hold the power, home, vol. up buttons and restart it if it has been plugged it (powered). If I don’t plug it in it will continue in its reboot loop. This almost always happens below 30% battery. Then I must remove the battery to shut it off. Also worth noting, when I plug it in with the Samsung power cord it charges pretty fast. Battery? Bad update? When it 1st happened I did a factory reset but no change. Thank you for your help.

Solution: It’s possible that the problem is caused by a bad battery. Since you have already performed  factory reset I recommend that you get a new battery and check if the problem gets resolved.

  1. Hi there and thanks in advance for your reply. I am quite a fan of the Note 4 and after my old one died, not being able to find a new one, I got one second hand. This new old phone worked great for a few months until a few days ago when it started to move sluggishly until it froze and rebooted. This seemed to happen more and more often so, after wiping the cache and doing a factory reset with no result, I decided to flash another firmware with Odin. I tried various firmwares I’ve downloaded from Sammobile which were for my mobile service provider. The process seemed to make matters worse and at one point the phone started booting directly in download mode and giving a mmc_read_fail error message. Eventually I managed to get it running for a while, hooked it up with Kies and, after entering it’s serial number, I flashed it’s appropriate firmware which strangely seemed to be from Verizon (a company that doesn’t exist in my country). The phone works now, nevertheless it’s still sluggish, freezes and sometimes reboots to the point of not being useful to me anymore. The battery works surpsingly well. What should I do now? It seems the internal memory has gone bad, but this is my second Note 4 and I wonder if this is not a problem that all Notes 4 eventually will encounter. Is there anything I could try before replacing it’s motherboard and do you think there is reasonable hope that with this new motherboard this phone would last longer than two years? Because I’m an architect (loved the pen) I’m getting old and I had planned to settle down with this one. Also did I do something wrong when using the phone? Is there some kind of malware, other than Facebook :-), which I don’t use, that causes these problems? Thanks a lot for your time.
