How To Fix FIFA 21 “Unable To Process Request” Error | NEW in 2024

One of the common issues in FIFA 21 recently is the “The EA Servers are unable to process your request at the current moment. Please try again later.” error. While this is usually due to a server error, there can also be other factors that we lead to this problem.

If you keep getting this error message and you have no idea how to go about it, this article should help.

What does “unable to process request” error mean?

Time and again since the FIFA 21 was released in October, there’s been a high number of players reporting that EA servers are refusing connection or the game keeps returning the “unable to process request” error. If you’re getting the same exact error when playing or after any online match, it can either mean that your console or PC has lost connection to EA servers, there’s an unknown console or software glitch, or you’re quitting too many of your games, which warrants a DNF (Did Not Finish) penalty.

Causes for “unable to process request” error on FIFA 21

There are a number of reasons why you keep getting the “The EA Servers are unable to process your request at the current moment. Please try again later.” on FIFA 21. Let’s talk about each of these causes individually.

Software glitch.

If FIFA 21 keeps crashing while you’re in the middle of the game, it can lead to this error. You should consider fixing the crashing issue first in order to permanently resolve the problem.

Server issues.

By far, the most common reason for most connection problems in FIFA 21 is due to EA server problems. Many players can experience unexpected disconnections even though their PC or console are working normally and the game is not crashing or freezing.

Player behavior (quitting game prematurely).

Frequent disconnections, whether player initiated or unintentional due to poor network quality can result in “unable to process request” error on FIFA 21. If the error is due to EA servers flagging your account for disconnections, you’ll know if that’s the case as the coins that you’ll earn when playing certain online modes such as FUT.

Local network issue.

If your home internet connection is slow or keeps dropping, you don’t want to play any online mode to avoid being penalized for DNF. As mentioned above, the error on FIFA 21 can also be the result of system-initiated penalty.

How to fix FIFA 21 “unable to process request” error

If you are getting the error on FIFA 21, you can try the solutions below.

Fix #1: Restart the game.

If you are getting the “unable to process request” error message when playing FIFA 21, the first thing that you want to do is try and restart the game. This simple troubleshooting step can be an effective way to fix game issues due to minor bugs. I was able to personally fix my own FIFA 21 connection issue by doing this everytime i have connection issue on FUT mode.

Fix #2: Power cycle console or PC.

If restarting the game won’t fix the error message, the next thing that you can do is to reboot your gaming console or computer. If you are playing the game on PS4 or Xbox, you can clear the system cache by unplugging the console from the power outlet for 30 seconds.

Fix #3: Check for server issues.

In case there’s a problem with EA servers, the next thing that you can do is to verify for any on-going issues.

To do that, visit the official EA website to know the server status of the game. On this page, be sure that you click on the green Server Status button.

Fix #4: Troubleshoot your local network.

If there are no server issues at all, it’s possible that you may have an issue with your local home network. Try to run a speed test on your console or PC to see how fast your internet connection is.

You can also consider rebooting your router to see if that will help fix your connection problems.

If you think that your home connection is having problems, you can prevent frequent or random disconnections by not playing FIFA 21 until the issue has been resolved by your Internet Service Provider.

Fix #5: Stop quitting games.

Sometimes, the reason for this type of error on FIFA 21 is not on the technical side of things but rather on player behaviour. If you are the type who quits a losing game, the fix is simple: just let the match finish normally. Try to learn from your past mistakes in your previous matches and accept the fact that you can’t win games all the time.
