How to Fix Disney Plus Keeps Changing Language

Disney Plus can sometimes switch the audio or subtitle language on its own, changing shows and movies to a language you did not select. Here are all the methods to fix this issue and keep your preferred language settings.

Method 1: Change Language in Disney Plus Profile Settings

Each Disney Plus profile has its own language preference. If the profile language is set incorrectly, content will default to the wrong language.

  1. Open Disney Plus and click your profile icon in the top right.
  2. Select Edit Profiles.
  3. Choose the profile that is experiencing the language issue.
  4. Find the App Language setting and select your preferred language.
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Play a show or movie to verify the language is correct.

Method 2: Change Audio and Subtitles During Playback

Individual shows and movies may have different default audio tracks. You can change them during playback.

  1. Start playing the content that has the wrong language.
  2. Tap or click the screen to show playback controls.
  3. Click the Audio & Subtitles icon (usually looks like a speech bubble or text icon).
  4. Select your preferred audio language.
  5. Select your preferred subtitle language or turn subtitles off.
  6. Disney Plus should remember this preference for future content.

Method 3: Check Device Language Settings

Disney Plus may use your device’s system language as the default. If your device is set to a different language, it can override your in-app preference.

  1. On your phone or tablet: Go to Settings, then Language, and make sure your preferred language is set as the primary language.
  2. On smart TVs: Go to Settings, then System or General, then Language.
  3. On streaming devices (Roku, Fire TV): Go to Settings, then Language and set your preferred language.
  4. Restart the Disney Plus app after changing device language settings.

Method 4: Update the Disney Plus App

Bugs in older versions of the Disney Plus app can cause language preferences to reset unexpectedly.

  1. Open the app store on your device (Google Play Store, App Store, or your smart TV’s app store).
  2. Search for Disney Plus.
  3. If an update is available, install it.
  4. Open Disney Plus and check if the language issue is fixed.

Method 5: Clear App Cache

Corrupted cache files can cause the app to load incorrect language settings.

  1. On Android: Go to Settings, then Apps, then Disney+, then Storage, and tap Clear cache.
  2. On smart TVs: Find Disney+ in the app settings and clear the cache.
  3. On iPhone: You will need to uninstall and reinstall the app to clear the cache.
  4. Open Disney Plus and check your language settings.

Method 6: Sign Out and Sign Back In

Signing out and back in forces Disney Plus to reload your profile settings from the server, which can fix language preference glitches.

  1. Open Disney Plus and go to your profile.
  2. Select Log Out or Sign Out.
  3. Close the app completely.
  4. Reopen Disney Plus and sign back in with your credentials.
  5. Check if the language settings are now correct.

Method 7: Delete and Recreate Your Profile

If a specific profile keeps switching languages, deleting it and creating a new one can clear corrupted profile data.

  1. Open Disney Plus and click your profile icon.
  2. Select Edit Profiles.
  3. Select the problematic profile and delete it.
  4. Create a new profile with the same name.
  5. Set the correct language in the new profile settings.
  6. Note: Your watch history and continue watching list will be lost when you delete a profile.

Method 8: Reinstall the App

A complete reinstall of the Disney Plus app ensures you have a clean installation with no corrupted files affecting language settings.

  1. Uninstall Disney Plus from your device.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Download and install Disney Plus from your app store.
  4. Sign in and set your preferred language in your profile settings.
  5. Play a show to verify the correct language is used.
