If your Galaxy Note10 texts are not sending, follow our suggestions below to fix it.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #1: Check for online solution

If your Galaxy Note10 texts are not sending for some reason, the first troubleshooting step that you want to do is to see if there’s an error message. Sometimes, texting problems come with a particular error. Try to use Google to search for a solution online. If the issue you’re having affects a number of users, there may be an article or post that you can follow to fix it.

If there’s no available solution online at all, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #2: Delete old conversations

Sometimes, texts issues are caused not by bugs but by too much messages in the inbox. In other words, the messaging app may have simply run out of storage space to receive incoming and outgoing messages. Try to delete several old conversations to see if that’s the case. Follow the steps below to start deleting your texts:

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Open Messages app.
  3. If prompted to change the default SMS app, tap Yes to confirm.
  4. Tap Menu icon located at the upper-right corner.
  5. Tap Edit.
  6. Select the messages you want to erase. If you want to delete all messages, tap All at the upper left.
  7. To delete all messages, tap All located at the upper-left corner.
  8. Tap the Trashcan icon located at the bottom-right corner.
  9. To confirm, tap Delete. If you want, you can also check Block numbers to prevent a selected number to send texts in the future.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #3: Troubleshoot the messaging app

Texting issues are sometimes due to a bug within the messaging app itself. If your Galaxy Note10 texts are still not sending at this time, there are a number of steps that you can do to troubleshoot it. There are a number of things that you can do:

  • Restart app
  • Clear app cache.
  • Reset app
  • Update app
  • Reinstall app

Restart app. Rebooting an app can sometimes fix texting issues. Minor bugs sometimes develop if a phone is left running for an extended period. Be sure to restart the app at this tpoint if nothing has helped so far.

These are the step ways to restart an app:

Method 1: Close an app using Recent Apps key

  1. On your screen, tap the Recent Apps soft key (the one with three vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
  2. Once the Recent Apps screen is shown, swipe left or right to look for the app. It should be here if you managed to run it previously.
  3. Then, swipe up on the app to close it. This should force close it. If it’s not there, simply tap the Close All app to also restart all apps.

Method 2: Close an app using App Info menu

Another way to force close an app is by going within the app’s settings itself. It’s a longer way compared to the first method above but it’s equally effective. You want to use this method if you plan on doing other troubleshooting for the said app like clearing its cache or data. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap the app.
  6. Tap Force Stop.

Clear app cache. Another way to troubleshoot an app is clearing its cache. Learn how to delete the cache on your messaging app below.

  1. Go to the Home screen.
  2. Tap Apps icon.
  3. Open Settings app.
  4. Tap Apps.
  5. If you’re looking for a system or default app, tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  6. Select Show system apps.
  7. Find and tap the appropriate app.
  8. Tap Storage.
  9. Tap Clear Cache button.
  10. Restart the device and check for the problem.

Reset app. A follow up troubleshooting step that you can do is delete the data of the app. This is going to return the app to its defaults.

  1. Go to the Home screen.
  2. Tap Apps icon.
  3. Open Settings app.
  4. Tap Apps.
  5. If you’re looking for a system or default app, tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  6. Select Show system apps.
  7. Find and tap the appropriate app.
  8. Tap Storage.
  9. Tap Clear Data button.

Update app. Some bugs may only go away by changing app codes. Be sure to check if the app you’re having a problem with needs an update. To check for Play Store app updates on your Galaxy Note10:

  1. Open Play Store app.
  2. Tap More settings icon at the upper left (three-horizontal lines).
  3. Tap My apps & games.
  4. Tap Update or Update All.

If you are on Cellular Data connection, we suggest that you update via wifi only to avoid additional charges. Here’s how:

  1. Open Play Store app.
  2. Tap More settings icon at the upper left (three-horizontal lines).
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap App download preference.
  5. Select Over wifi only (select Over any network if you don’t have wifi).
  6. Tap Done.

Make sure to also keep your apps updated all the time by enabling auto-update option.

  1. Tap Auto-update apps.
  2. Tap Over wifi only (select Over any network if you don’t have wifi).
  3. Tap Done.

Reinstall app. If you’re using a third party messaging app aside from the default Samsung Messages, you can try to delete it instead of clearing its data. This can sometimes be more effective in fixing issues with a particular app.

Below are the steps to delete or uninstall an app on Galaxy Note10+

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Tap Apps.
  4. Ensure All is selected (upper-left).  If necessary, tap the Dropdown icon (upper-left) then select All.
  5. Locate then select the appropriate app. If system apps aren’t visible, tap the More options icon (upper-right) then select Show system apps.
  6. Tap Uninstall to delete an app.
  7. Tap OK to confirm.

Another way to easily uninstall an app is by going to the Home or Apps screen and holding the app icon. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Home or Apps screen.
  2. Find the app you want to delete.
  3. Tap and hold the icon of the app.
  4. Select Uninstall.
  5. Once the app has been uninstalled, restart the device and reinstall it to check for the problem again.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #4: Restart device

If Galaxy Note10 texts are still not sending at this point, rebooting your Note10 may help. Try restarting it normally first by pressing the Power button to access the boot menu. Then, select Restart option and see if that works.

Another way to restart the device is by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on. This simulates the effect of having disconnected the battery from the device. If this works, this may unlock the device.

If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
  2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.

Rebooting your device regularly at least once every week can be beneficial. If you tend to forget things, we suggest that you configure your phone to reboot on its own. You can schedule it to do this task by doing these steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Device Care.
  3. Tap the 3-dot at the top.
  4. Select Auto restart.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #5: Check the signal

Texting problems may sometimes be caused by something outside the device itself. One of the possible causes for your problem may be weak or no signal issue. Try moving to a more open area and make sure that the signal bars are full. If texting worked earlier, the problem may be temporary so try relocating for a solution.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #6: Troubleshoot SIM card

SIM card issues may cause texting problems too. To check if it’s a SIM issue, try to do the following:

  • Reseat SIM card,
  • Insert SIM card on another device
  • Get a new SIM card

Temporarily disconnecting a SIM card can sometimes fix network problems. Take the SIM card out and put it back in to see if this works. Make sure that your phone is off before you take the card out. Do the same when you insert the card as well.

If you have another phone, insert the current SIM card to it and see if your texts will send. If texts work on the second phone, you must continue troubleshooting your Note10.

Alternatively, you can replace the SIM card and see what happens. We won’t recommend that you do this, especially if the problem has recently developed but it’s a good option if you think that the SIM card is damaged. Visit your local carrier store and ask them for a new SIM card.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #7: Reset network settings

Network problems are sometimes caused by poor or incorrect network configuration. Try to reset the network settings on your device and see how it works afterwards.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Find and tap the messaging app.
  4. Tap Storage.
  5. Tap Clear Data button.
  6. Restart the device and check for the problem.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #8: Refresh system cache

If Galaxy Note10 texts are still not sending, there may be a problem with the system cache. To cover for this possibility, try to clear the cache partition. This is usually effective in fixing bugs stemming from corrupted or outdated system cache. Don’t worry, this won’t delete your personal data.

To wipe the cache partition on your Galaxy Note10:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘yes’ is highlighted and press the Power button.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #9: Send texts on safe mode

A bad third party app may sometimes interfere with Android or other apps. To see if you have an issue with one of your apps, you can run the device to safe mode. In this mode, no third party can be launched. This means that if texts will work on safe mode, a bad third party app must be to blame.

To check if you have a bad third party app issue:

  1. Press and hold the Power button until the Power off window appears then release.
  2. Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode prompt appears then release.
  3. To confirm, tap Safe mode.
  4. The process may take up to 30 seconds to complete.
  5. Upon reboot, “Safe mode” appears in the lower-left of the home screen.
  6. Check for the problem by sending texts.

Remember that third-party applications are disabled in this mode so what you can use are pre-installed apps. If Galaxy Note10 wifi works normally on safe mode only, that means that the problem is due to a bad app. Uninstall the app you recently installed and see if that will fix it. If the problem remains, use the process of elimination to identify the rogue app. Here’s how:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Galaxy Note10 still won’t turn on normally (but works on safe mode), repeat steps 1-4.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #10: Factory reset

If none of the solutions have helped, you have the option to factory reset your Note10. This is a drastic troubleshooting step but necessary in helping you identify if the cause is software-related. Be sure to back your personal data up to avoid losing them during the reset.

Below are the two ways to factory reset your Galaxy Note10:

Method 1: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10 via Settings Menu

This is the easiest way to wipe your Galaxy Note10. all you have to do is to go under Settings menu and follow the steps below. We recommend this method if you have no trouble going under Settings.

  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.
  6. Read the information then tap Reset to continue.
  7. Tap Delete All to confirm action.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10 using hardware buttons

If your case is that the phone is not booting up, or it boots but Settings menu is inaccessible, this method can be helpful. First, you need to boot the device to Recovery Mode. Once you successfully access Recovery, that’s the time that you begin proper master reset procedure. It may take some tries for you before you can access Recovery so be patient and simply try again.

  1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  5. When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.
  11. Follow the rest of the instructions to finish the task.

Galaxy Note10 texts not sending fix #11: Contact your carrier

Some texting issues are not fixable on a user’s level. If the problem returns after wiping the device and returning its software to defaults, you can assume that the problem may be account or network-related. Be sure to get help from your network operator.
