Upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro Rumored to Be Packing Wireless Charging

OnePlus has innovated a great deal with its smartphones and other commercial products over the past few years. But one feature missing from the company’s flagship is wireless charging. While speaking at The Vergecast podcast recently, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau remained skeptical about wireless charging, claiming that it’s simply not fast enough, especially compared to the company’s wired Warp Charger (30W).

However, a graphic designer on Twitter has hinted at the inclusion of the feature on the OnePlus 8 Pro. He did this by posting a picture that shows a OnePlus device charging wirelessly. The artist says that the graphic was only created for illustrative purposes, while his sources have reportedly confirmed that the feature will make the cut.

While this would usually mean confirmation, given what the company CEO said a few days ago, we’re going to wait until more details emerge. Keeping this in mind, we recommend you to take this with a grain of salt for now.

OnePlus’ CEO added that the existing setup of wireless chargers, even ones that use 10W of power are simply inadequate compared to wired Warp Charging. So it’s likely that if the OnePlus 8 Pro does have wireless charging underneath, it will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. The company is known for pushing the boundaries in terms of charging tech, with healthy competition from fellow Chinese manufacturers like Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, and so on.

American customers, especially those on Verizon, will know that the carrier is expected to sell the OnePlus 8 Pro when it is launched in a couple of months from now, making it the first OnePlus smartphone to sell via Verizon.
