J5 Apps Crashing And Freezing

Problem: I have been having problems with certain game apps crashing and freezing. Mostly it’s transformers forged to fight and final fantasy record keeper. I can usually play the games for about 5 to 10 minutes then I receive the message that the app closed due to error. The transformers game does it so quick I can’t even report the issue to google. The box disappears almost immediately after the app closes. I’ve seen others have the same issue as I do and they even have the Galaxy S8 and S7. I use the J5 and the games used to work perfectly then a few months ago this crashing issue began. I have done and hard reset and a soft reset. I bought a brand new SD card. It would be awesome if you guys could help me figure out a solution to this.

Solution: If this issue occurs only on certain game apps on your phone then this is most likely caused by a software glitch. What you need to do in this case is to first make sure that your phone software is updated. Once this is done I suggest that you uninstall the games that are affected by this issue then install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

If the problem still persists and since this is also happening on other phone models then I suggest that you report this to the game developer as this could be caused by a bug in the game.

J5 Not Turning On Not Charging

Problem: Hi, My cell phone Samsung J5 doesn’t turn on and it doesn’t charge. I’ve already tried using three chargers and tried to charge it using a laptop. But all of them didn’t work. I’ve also tried the troubleshooting guide you have in your site but all of them didn’t work. Last night, I left my cellphone on top of a glass table, when I tried to use it this morning it was very cold and it wasn’t working at all.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is done charge  your phone for at least 20 minutes using a charging cord and wall charger that has been tested to work on another device. If your phone has a microSD card installed then remove it. Turn on the phone afterwards by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons.

In case the issue persists then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

J5 Red X When Charging Phone

Problem: Hello, I have an J5, first time I’ve ever had this issue, when I plug phone in, the battery icon has a red x, talking to other, said try factory charger, which I have, same condition… it did it once b4 and within a day it started to work again. I’m reluctant to try using canned air to blow out charging port, and honestly, where we live I’ve hung onto the J5 model because it outperforms newer handsets. Any idea? Thank you in advance

Solution: If you see a red x when you try to charge the phone then this means that the phone detects that the charger being used is not the original charger. To fix this problem you should use the original charging cord and wall charger of Samsung. If you already are then try using a different one but still a Samsung branded cord and charger.

You should also clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air as dirt or debris stuck in this port could be causing the problem.

One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. This allows you to eliminate any software related glitches that could be causing the problem.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by hardware component that is failing to work properly.

J5 Screen Turns On Automatically

Problem: My galaxy J5 screen turns on automatically after i locked the screen. I tried soft reset, hard reset, wipe cache…. Tested proximity sensor, its working perfectly. Hard Switches are working perfectly. I don’t know what to do

Solution: If the issue persists even after performing a factory reset then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J5 Stuck On Boot Logo

Problem: Hey I just got my son this galaxy J5 for Christmas and everything has been working fine until this morning and all of a sudden when you turn the phone on it starts on the logo screen and that’s as far as it goes! I’ve tried all of the rebooting you mentioned in the troubleshooting section! When I tried safe mode it wouldn’t even come up on the screen! It just stayed on the logo screen no change at all! Then when I tried the recovery mode in the left hand top corner of the screen recovery booting…. came up but it didn’t go any further still stays on logo screen no reboot menu at all just the recovery booting…. in blue and it’s still on there! Idk what to do he hasn’t had the phone long enough for it to mess up already!!

Solution: Does the phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it. Once this is done connect the phone to a wall charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes.

Access the recovery mode of the phone while it is still connected to its charger then perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase the phone data.

  • Turn off the phone by using the Power key.
  • Press and hold together:  Volume Up + Home + Power button, until you see Samsung logo.
  • Select from Recovery Mode menu “wipe data / factory reset” using Volume buttons to navigate and Home button to confirm.
  • Choose “Yes — delete all user data” to confirm the whole operation.
  • Select option “reboot system now”.

In case the issue still persists even after this reset then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J5 Screen Flickers

Problem: Hi, I’m having an issue with my Samsung Galaxy J5. The screen keeps flickering on low brightness. When not connected to power the phone screen refuses to power on but when connected to a power source the screen powers on without any problems. I have performed multiple resets of the phone and the software doesn’t seem to be the issues. Kindly assist, is this a display issue or a power issue?

Solution: Since a factory reset fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related issue possibly caused by a faulty battery. I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J5 Battery Drains Quickly

Problem: Hello, Lately my phone battery has by dying a lot faster than usual. My battery would be at 40% and then randomly it goes down to 15% and then 4% and from there it dies. I’m not too sure what to do. I also have another issue with my phone. Randomly my phone would  have a pop up on the bottom of the screen telling me ” Sorry  unable to download, please try again later.” I didn’t download anything and at least 90 times a day that statement would pop up on my phone. What should I do?

Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
