How To Fix The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G Can’t Send MMS

Before you do any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below you should first make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it. This will minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.

Your phone will usually need two things in order for it to be able to send and receive MMS.

  • It must have an active mobile data subscription.
  • It must have the correct APN settings.

Sending and receiving an MMS is usually done over the mobile data network so it’s important that your phone has a good mobile data signal. You should also check the APN settings of the phone and make sure that it matches the one your carrier is using as this setting is unique for each network.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  • Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  • If available, tap the available APN setting then make the necessary changes if needed.
  • If not available, tap ADD then add the settings.

In case your phone satisfies both conditions but it is still unable to send out and MMS then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Your phone will usually store the most commonly used data for easy access and to make it perform better. This data however can get corrupted which in turn can cause this problem . To remove any corrupt temporary data you have to do a soft reset by restarting the phone. This is usually done when a phone becomes unresponsive but is also recommended in this particular case.

Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app

There are cases when corrupt data within the text messaging app can cause this particular issue. If this is the case then clearing the cache and data of this app will help.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  • Tap Settings > Apps.
  • Tap the desired application in the default list.
  • To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
  • Tap Storage > CLEAR CACHE > CLEAR DATA > DELETE.

Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode

Sometimes an app you downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store can be causing this problem. To check if this is the case, you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Bixby key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  • When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Bixby key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
  • While in Safe mode, you can now uninstall apps that are causing a problem

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it’s likely that the problem is caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

The phone system cached data is used to speed up the operation of the device. Sometimes this data can get corrupted which results in issues occurring on the device. To check if a corrupted cached data is causing the problem you will need to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
  • An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press Bixby / Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Bixby / Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot the system now is highlighted.
  • Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step you should consider is a factory reset. This will revert your phone back to its original factory condition. Take note that this procedure will erase your phone data so make sure to create a backup copy before proceeding with this step.

  • Backup data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  • When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  • Press Bixby / Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Bixby / Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.
