How To Watch Movies Offline Without Internet On Android

Trying to figure out how you can watch movies on Android without a data connection? Luckily, in the modern day, there are a handful of ways to download movies and TV shows straight to your Android device so that you can watch them offline without Internet. These methods are perfectly legal (i.e. no piracy) and they won’t cause you too much money either. In fact, it can be a huge savings over the traditional way of purchasing physical DVDs and Blu-Ray movies.

So if you’re ready to download your favorite movies offline for watching media without an Internet connection, be sure to follow along below. We’ll show you how you can make this possible in just a few short and easy steps! Here’s how:

Netflix

Netflix is probably the best option on our list for watching content offline. Netflix for a long time didn’t offer a way for folks to download content for offline viewing. That said, this is a feature that the streaming service giant added to the service only a couple of years ago now, and even though they started offering it, they didn’t make it well known.

So, if you wan to use Netflix for viewing content offline, head on over to the Google Play Store and download it on your Android device. Log in with your account credentials, and then search Netflix’s library for a movie or TV show that you want to download for offline viewing. Once you find a show, just press the button to download it to your device. It’s worth noting that only select movies and TV shows can be downloaded to your Android device due to different licensing restrictions.

Once downloaded, you should be able to watch content without Internet!

Google Play Movies

If you don’t have a Netflix subscription, and certainly don’t want something to subscribe to, Google Play Movies is an excellent option. With Google Play Movies, you don’t have a recurring subscription that you have to pay for. On this service, you can choose to rent or buy movies (on a per movie basis), or you can buy single TV episodes or whole seasons if you want. Once you have either of these in your possession, just head to your library and press the download button on the movie or TV show that you want to watch offline without Internet.

Google Play Movies is one of our favorite options for watching content offline because it can be done so cheaply.  Google Play Movies often allows you to rent movies at cheap Redbox prices, and will sometimes even throw in promo codes for free rentals. They often offer steep discounts on popular TV seasons as well (e.g. Game of Thrones).

Amazon Instant Video

Amazon Video

Amazon Video is another way that you can watch movies offline without Internet on Android. This method is actually pretty similar to the way Netflix handles it — you just need a direct subscription to Amazon Video or have it included with your Amazon Prime purchase. Once you do, Amazon will allow you to download and watch select titles offline without Internet. Find a movie or TV show you want to watch, tap it, go down to Video Details, and then hit that Download button.

Digital Copies

Don’t forget about the digital copies that you already own! If you purchase physical DVDs or Blu-Ray discs at all, a redemption code is likely included in your case. Pull it out of the case and follow the instructions on the paper to redeem your digital copy. Generally, it’ll take you to a site/service like Vudu to redeem the code. Once you redeem it, that will be in your digital library forever, and you can download it for offline viewing whenever and to whatever device you like.

Verdict

There are a lot of different ways that you can download content on Android for offline viewing without Internet. We listed some of the best methods for achieving this. If you’re a big fan of subscription-based streaming services, Netflix and Amazon Video are great ways to watch content offline without Internet. But, if you’re looking for something with a little bit larger of a library, Google Play Movies is easily the way to go. They’re a little bit more expensive since you have to purchase and rent content on a per movie or TV show basis, but they have a whole lot more content up for consumption, including HBO’s hit Game of Thrones series.
