Note 4 Unfortunately Instagram Has Stopped Working Error

Problem: When I am on Instagram for longer than a minute, I keep getting a notification that pops up and says “unfortunately Instagram has stopped working” I have reported this issue several times a day. I have uninstalled the instagram app and installed it again. I have cleared the cache and cleared the data and nothing seems to be helping. This issue had been going on for a few months now. I had to do a master reset to my phone last weekend. I unlocked my phone and had a bunch of red numbers and letters across my screen. My screen was turned upside down. I was unable to backup any of my photos or any personal info before I did the master reset.

Solution: The error message that you are getting can be attributed to several factors. It could be caused by a problematic app, conflicts in app data, or even a corrupt cached data. The usual troubleshooting steps in this type of issue is to clear the cache and data of the app which you already did.

The next thing that you should do is to uninstall the Instagram app then wipe the cache partition of your phone. Proceed to the Google Play Store then download the latest version of the app.

If the issue persists then the master reset that you did was a smart move. Unfortunately, you were not able to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.

Once the master reset has completed do not install any other apps on your phone yet except for Instagram. Use the app then see if the issue still persists. It’s likely that you won’t encounter any issues with the app. Install the rest of your apps one at a time. After each installation go back to Instagram and check if the error message still occurs. Once the error occurs go back to the last app you installed prior to the error occurring then uninstall it.

S4 TouchWiz Not Working Error

Problem: every time I go to close my apps a notification pops up saying that touchwiz is not working and it glitches a little and takes two to three seconds to reboot all my apps

Solution: TouchWiz is the default interface for Samsung’s Galaxy devices. Since this is also an app then it also stores data and this data may already be corrupt which is causing the problem. What you should do first is to clear the cache and data of the TouchWiz app. If the problem persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

In some cases a third party app may also cause this type of issue, especially if you have a third party launcher installed in your phone. What you should do to check if an app is causing this problem is to start your phone in Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode observe your phone operation for any signs of the error occurring again. If it does not occur then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app is causing this problem and uninstall it.

If however the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Facebook Freezes

Problem: Facebook regularly locks up and I have to clear all previous screens and wait for 10-15 minutes then go back into it.

Solution: The first thing you should do in this case is to clear the cache and data of your Facebook app as it may have some corrupt temporary data. If the freezing issue still occurs proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

You should also uninstall the Facebook app then install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

If the problem still persists despite uninstalling and reinstalling the app then proceed with backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset.

Note 4 App Opens Whenever Updated

Problem: Hi Guys, I have my Google Apps set to “automatically update”, although I believe this issue exists in Manual mode as well. Every Time one of my Apps updates, it proceeds to open on my phone.  Even though I do not open the Application myself.   Previously my Apps would simply update &  move on to the next update. Why is each update triggering the App to open? Thanks for your help.

Solution: Whenever an app is update from the Google Play Store it does not normally open on its own as it will be updated in the background. There may be other factors involved as to why this is happening. The first thing you need to eliminate is the possibility to some form of corrupt data causing this problem. To check if this is the case you need to wipe the cache partition of your phone.

If the problem still persists then this may already be a problem with the phone software itself. I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Disabling Apps

Problem: can we disable apps that we don’t generally use – a warning comes up – “Delete all data and disable app? If you disable a built-in app, this may cause problems with other apps. Your data will also be deleted.” I would like to disable apps I don’t use, this will free up ram space and generally speed up note 4 for the apps and programs that I do use – any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance

Solution: As long as you don’t use the app you can disable it. This prevents the app from running in the background and using your phone RAM.

Note 4 Changing Default Launcher App

Problem: Would like to make CM my default launcher. When I press the “Home” button, i get the launcher menu and have to select CM. If I press “always”, the popup message says to go to “default applications” and do a reset. There’s nothing to reset in “default applications”.  All I want is for the CM Launcher to immediately work when I press the Home button. How do I achieve that?

Solution: Normally, once you install a launcher on your phone from the Google Play Store all you have to do to use it after the installation process is to click on the Home button of your phone. You will then be presented with two choices, “just once” and “always”. Choosing always will make the CM Launcher your default phone launcher. The problem here is that it can’t be set.

To resolve this issue try clearing your app defaults by going to Settings – Apps – App Settings then click on reset app preferences.

Click on your home button again then see if you can set the CM Launcher as your default launcher this time.

If the problem still persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone then repeat the procedure above.
