Doing the forced restart procedure will simulate the battery pull procedure we often do to phones with removable batteries. Majority of cases like this are due to a firmware crash which often leaves your phone unresponsive and with a black screen. However, such kind of issue can be fixed by doing the forced restart. To do it, press both the volume down and power keys at the same time and hold them together for 10 seconds or more. Most of the time it’s more than enough to fix the problem and bring your device back to life. However, if your phone still won’t respond after doing this, then it’s possible that the firmware crashed due to a drained battery.
You see, when you allow the phone to run out of battery without connecting it to a charger, some services and hardware components may be shut down improperly and as a result, the firmware will crash. While both a drained battery and firmware crash are minor problems, they will still make your device unresponsive. So, connect the charger to a working wall outlet, connect your phone to it using the original cable and leave it for 10 minutes or so. After which, try this procedure while it’s still connected to the charger…
- Press and hold the volume down button.
- Press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
- Keep both keys held down together for 10 seconds or more.
These are the only procedures you need to do and if your phone is still not responding after this, then it’s time you brought it to the shop or back to the store so that a technician can check it up for you.
