How to clean your Galaxy J7 Prime of unwanted apps

There’s been a growing number of reported problems for the Galaxy J7 (#GalaxyJ7) lately so here’s another troubleshooting article for you. As usual, we cover some of the common issues for this device first. Problem #1: How to clean your Galaxy J7 Prime of unwanted apps

I have a galaxy J7 prime. It’s a brand new phone I got it on the 9th of this month and everything was working amazing no problems until last night it’s slow, freezes and when I type something everything will go away. I’ve also noticed there has been some software installed and it wasn’t me. I’ve found some tons and tons of files about some kind of software I googled a lot trying to figure out what it was and aoso things were saying the software it’s computer software. and another one I googled it said it’s for sending from one person to another wirelesses and headsets, Bluetooth speakers and head phones. and I don’t have any of those things I don’t even have a computer. i have not added any software or apps really beside faceFace etc.

I can show screenshots better than over text cause i don’t really know how explain to where others would know and understand so if you could help me and get a better understanding I can screenshot and send you some I really want these crap off my phone and I physically can’t do it because it was done on a PC and I don’t think it’s right for someone to literally see everything I’m doing spying on me. Wo o really hope you can help. Thank you!

Solution: First of all, there’s no electronic device that can run perfectly all the time. Even top-of-the-line devices like Samsung’s Galaxy and Note models suffer hiccups from time to time. If your Galaxy J7 Prime slows down infrequently from out of the blue, that does not necessarily mean there’s a problem in the system. Sometimes, outdated system cache or poorly coded apps can affect the operating system and impact it negatively. This may manifest in sudden freezes. As long as freezes don’t occur all the time and infrequently, there’s no need for alarm.

Now, for your main concern regarding possible third party apps that may be spying on you or compromising the system, there’s really no direct way to know that. If you think there are many apps installed without your knowledge, we suggest that you wipe your phone right away thru factory reset. This will ensure that you stop whatever these apps are doing by removing them entirely. Then, once the phone has been reset, you can then reinstall apps that you trust again. Keep in mind that some apps, even the ones that look legit, may actually be malicious ones. Once such apps have been installed, they may look legit initially. After some time, they may modify the system or allow installation of other malicious apps. This is why you should be very picky what app to add to the system. If your phone becomes compromised again after a factory reset, you only have yourself to blame.

For reference, follow the steps below on how to factory reset your Galaxy J7 Prime:

1. Create a backup of your personal data.
2. Turn off the device.
3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
6. Press Power button to select.
7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
10. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Problem #2: Galaxy J7 Contacts app keeps crashing

Galaxy J7, international unlocked, latest firmware. Since upgrade, Samsung Contacts app crashes when entering settings. Everything else works. Have gone through complete factory reset (also deleting all accounts before reset). Problem exists right after factory reset without having installed additional apps. Samsung contacts also does not even show up anymore in Galaxy Apps store. Samsung customer service says hardware is broken. That is obviously nonsense, as I see that same problem on different J7 devices. All works well on S8.

Solution: If the problem persists after a factory reset, there must be poor or inefficient coding behind it. This means that it can only be fixed by a patch. When that becomes available is beyond us. In this situation, you have two options. For one, you can try to skirt it by not using the apps in question. You can try other apps that offer the same exact function like Google Contacts app or similar. The second option is to continue working with Samsung by reporting the trouble to force them to create a ticket bug for it. If there are many other J7 devices reporting the same problem, they may release a patch in the future. Keep in mind that this problem may not be entirely Samsung’s fault at all. It can also be a unique bug for the particular firmware version running on your device, which in turn, may be triggered by another unknown factor.

Problem #3: Galaxy J7 won’t power on after plugging in a third party fan to USB port

I have a samsung J7 and one night i was using my phone and i had the flash on and without thinking i put a usb fan thingy into my phone and it caused the phone to glitch and reset itself and i noticed then the battery went from 50% to 3%. So after the phone reset itself and everything seemed ok i put the phone to charge and i noticed it was getting very hot. so i stopped charging it and let it cool down but when i woke up the next morning it didnt want to charge at all or turn on but it was getting hot but the only part that was getting hot was not the battery it was above the battery. I tried reading tips on how to start up phone like pressing home button and power button but nothing. Is there any other way for me to boot up my phone without having to delete all of my data because i don’t want to lose my pictures or did i fry my phone ? Thank you!

Solution: You won’t be able to recover your files at all if your phone fails to turn back on. So, the main goal for you now is to check whether or not your J7 is totally dead or not. If it is, you’re out of luck. If the device shows signs of life, there may still be a chance to revive it. These are some of the telltale signs to watch out for:

• LED light shows up when charging
• vibrates during reboot attempt
• sounds for incoming notifications or messages

If your J7 makes any of these things at this point, try to charge it for at least 1 hour before you attempt to turn it back on. In case the problem lies on the charging accessories, try to use another known working charging cable and adapter. You can also try to use another battery to see if it’s been damaged for some reason.

If any of these won’t make any difference at all, let a professional check your device. There may be a short in the logic board that prevents the phone from turning on properly.
