More often than not, you will be asked to setup your Google account during the first boot but you can actually skip it. You need a Google account set up on your device to be able to use it to its full potential and here’s how it’s done.

  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Tap Accounts and backup.
  4. Tap Accounts.
  5. Tap Add account.
  6. Tap Google. If you set up a screen lock option such as PIN, Password, or Pattern, you should enter it here when prompted.
  7. Enter the Gmail address then tap NEXT.
  8. Enter the password then tap NEXT.
  9. To continue, review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy then tap I AGREE. To review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, tap the appropriate link and language then tap Close (at the bottom) when finished.
  10. If presented, tap the Back up to Google Drive switch to turn on, then tap Accept.

After doing this, you will be able to enjoy using all google services like Gmail, Drive, Chrome syncing, etc. Also, when the account is properly set up, the Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is automatically enabled. Anybody who doesn’t know your Google ID and password and was able to perform the master reset, won’t be able to use your phone.
