Troubleshooting: Hi! This problem is very common among Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus owners. Some of them just had the device for several months and the problem occur. There are reasons that trigger this issue, it might be a software glitch that won’t allow the owners to open an app or it might be a hardware issue. Below are the steps that we recommended to our readers with similar issues:

Step 1: Try to Reboot the Device

This is the most common way to resolve any issues. There are times that after a software update a restart is needed to complete the update process. There are old files that is not deleted automatically and so it causes a problem running an app and error message will appear, like running Camera app. Simply turning your device off and turn it back on and run the app again.

Step 2: Clear Cache and Data of Camera App

If the simple restart won’t resolve the problem and the error is still showing up, the deleting the cache and data of the Camera app might help. There are corrupted temporary files or data that needs to be cleared off so the device can run normally. Here are the steps how to do it:

  1. From the Home screen, tap setting icon
  2. Navigate to Application or App option, then tap it
  3. Tap Application manager
  4. Next, navigate through options and find the Camera app
  5. After finding the camera app, tap Storage option
  6. Tap ‘Clear cache’ option
  7. Next, tap ‘Clear data’ option
  8. Go back to the Home screen and run the Camera app

When you are done and the problem was not resolved, then proceed and try the next step.

Step 3: Run in Safe Mode

There are cases that a third party app is the culprit. We recommend running your device into safe mode to determine if the problem is caused by a third party app or pre-installed one. This mode will temporarily disable all third party apps installed on your device. If it runs smoothly in this mode, we highly recommend finding and uninstalling the apps that are causing problem. Below are the steps how to run in safe mode:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys for 20 to 30 seconds.
  2. Once you see the Samsung logo, release the Power key immediately but continue pressing the Volume Down key.
  3. Your phone should continue booting up and you will be prompted to unlock your phone as usual.
  4. You will know if the phone successfully booted in safe mode if the text “Safe mode” is displayed at the lower-left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Wipe System cache Partition

During software updates the old data files will be replaced by the new data. There are times that during the process it will not delete the old data and because it was not cleared the problem will occur, so you have to manually do the wiping to fix the problem. Some of our readers did it and was able to resolve the problem. Here are the steps:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Now, if the above steps did not resolve the problem and the error still occurs, then try the next step.

Step 5: Factory Reset the Device

This step is mostly the last resort if ever all the mentioned steps above are not working. Performing a Factory reset on your device will delete the files stored in the internal memory, so before you proceed, you have to backup all your important files to an external storage device or SD card. However, if you are in doubt to follow the steps you can simply disregard this. Below are the steps how to factory reset the device:

  1. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
  3. When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
  4. Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
  6. Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
  7. After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.

Step 6: Bring it to the specialist

If all the mentioned troubleshooting steps above are not working, bring the device to your local service center to have this problem fixed. There are reports that this problem is also caused by hardware issues and the camera of the device needs to be replaced. The thing is, we won’t know unless someone with sufficient knowledge do some tests on your phone or, at the very least, inspect it.

Fix your Galaxy S6 Edge Plus that keeps popping up the error “Unfortunately, Camera has stopped”

Problem: The error “Unfortunately, Camera has stopped” shows up everytime I open the camera of my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. This is the first time that it happened and I don’t understand why it keeps showing up. There are only two options to choose from (OK and Report) but none of them will bring me to the screen where I can capture pictures and videos. If you can be so kind to help an old woman here, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Troubleshooting: The Camera has stopped error is actually referring to the camera app itself that may have forced closed on its own or crashed due to intervention from other apps. We have to thoroughly troubleshoot your device to know what the problem is so that we would know how to fix it. The follow steps may help you get rid of the problem:

Step 1: Clear the cache and data of the Camera app

More often, this issue occurs if there’s an app or a firmware update. Clearing the cache and data of the camera app is the first thing to do to try to fix the issue. To do it, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to ‘APPLICATIONS,’ then tap Application manager.
  4. Swipe right to the ALL screen.
  5. Scroll to and tap Camera.
  6. Tap Clear cache.
  7. Tap Clear data.

Step 2: Boot your device in Safe mode

After clearing the cache and data of the app and the issue remained, then there might be another app that is causing the problem. Booting it on Safe mode will help you rule out this possibility.

While in this state, the device will temporarily disable all third-party apps and only the pre-installed apps will run or loaded during the boot up process. If the error won’t pop up when you use the camera while in this mode, then our suspicion that your downloaded apps are causing the problem is confirmed. You need to find the culprit and disable or uninstall them.

To boot your phone on Safe mode, follow these steps:

Step 3: Perform Master reset on your Phone

Since, you already performed the necessary procedures on your phone but the issue wasn’t fixed, then doing a master reset is the next thing that you should do. Restoring the device to its default settings might fix the problem like this. But take note that this procedure will delete everything stored in the memory of your phone including the downloaded apps. So, before doing the reset make sure to backup all of them because you cannot retrieve once they are be deleted.

Fix Galaxy S6 Edge Plus that shows “Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped” when camera is opened

Problem: I’m not sure if you guys have encountered this problem already but my S6 Edge Plus is telling me that it’s Gallery stops whenever I open the camera. I’m not really sure why this is happening and what confuses me is that why is the gallery crashing when it’s the camera I’m using? Can you help me out with this? Thank you!

Troubleshooting: The camera and gallery apps are working together every single time. The former snaps pictures and the latter manages them. So you can easily understand it, this is what happens between these two apps in layman’s terms:

When you hit that capture button on the screen of your phone, the camera will capture a still photo or start recording a video. Once finished, the picture or the video will be handled by the gallery app for saving, cropping and management. That’s why when you open the Gallery after taking a picture, you can immediately see them in order. Needless to say, the moment you open the camera, the gallery app is already in standby so that when the former calls it, it’s ready for use. With all that being said, here’s what I think you should do in order to troubleshoot your device:

Step 1: Boot up in safe mode and open the camera

You said the gallery app crashes immediately when you open the camera, so try opening the camera app when the device is in safe mode. This will rule out the possibility that third-party apps have something to do with this especially if you have installed new camera or multimedia manager apps. This is how you boot your S6 Edge Plus in safe mode:

While the phone is in this mode, open the camera to see if the problem still occurs or open the Gallery app to find out if the it still crashes on its own. If the problem gets fixed in this mode, then one or a group of your third party apps is causing the problem. You need to find the culprit and either disable or uninstall it.

However, if the problem still occurs even when all third-party apps are disabled, then we can almost be certain it’s an issue with the firmware.

Step 2: Backup your data and reset your phone

There’s no point is doing other troubleshooting procedures because it’s a third-party app that’s crashing. So the next thing you can do is reset your phone. However, you need to make sure you have backed up all your important files and data as they will all be deleted once you do.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Find and tap the Settings icon.
  3. Under the ‘Personal’ section, find and tap Backup and reset.
  4. Tap Factory data reset.
  5. Touch Reset device to proceed with the reset.
  6. Depending on the security lock you used, enter the PIN or password.
  7. Tap Continue.
  8. Touch Delete all to confirm your action.

I am certain this procedure will bring your phone back to a working state.
