How to fix Instagram that keeps crashing on Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro 2019 (easy steps)

In January, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro 2018 was launched and it gained positive reviews compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy J2. So, in this article, I will walk you through on steps that you should do to figure it out the solution that might fix this issue. How to fix Galaxy J2 Pro 2018 with Instagram app that keeps crashing

App crashes are actually normal or expected. If you’re an Android user, there are times when you may encounter having an app that closes on its own shortly after you opened it or get an error that in this case it would say “Unfortunately, Instagram has stopped.” More often than not, this kind of problem is pretty much easy to fix. With all that being said, here’s what I suggest you do about it:

First Solution: Reboot your Galaxy J2 Pro

Sometimes, app-related issue in android devices can be triggered if tons of apps are running in the background using the CPU or RAM. By rebooting your phone, you’re actually refreshing its memory. All third-party apps and services that run in the background will be closed and core functions will be reloaded. So, hit that Power key and restart your phone like you always do.

After the reboot, open Instagram and try to use it to see if the problem has been fixed or not. If it still occurs, then try doing the Forced Restart by pressing the Volume Down and the Power keys at the same time for 10 seconds. Should the problem continue after this, then move on to the next procedure.

Second Solution: Clear the Cache and Data of the Instagram App

This method is very effective especially in fixing app-related issues. In fact, there were reports from other users saying that after doing the step, the app started responding again or no longer crashes. So this time, what we gonna do is to reset Instagram by clearing its cache and data as well as bring it back to its default settings:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap App Manager.
  4. Locate then tap Netflix.
  5. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Cached data.
  8. Tap CLEAR.
  9. Reboot your phone to refresh its memory.

After the reboot, open Instagram to know if the problem continues or not and if still does, move on to the next procedure.

Third Solution: Uninstall and Reinstall your Instagram App

More often we would suggest updating the app that has some problems to address possible compatibility issues. However, this time, I suggest you uninstall Instagram to delete all its caches and data as well as remove its associations with other apps and services. In other words, you will delete its traces from your phone. Here’s how you uninstall this app:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap App Manager.
  4. Locate then tap Instagram.
  6. Review the notification then tap OK to confirm.
  7. Reboot your phone to refresh it’s memory and other connections.

After this, you need to reinstall the app. This time, you’re pretty sure you have the latest version of Instagram on your phone.

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. Tap Play Store.
  3. Type ‘instagram’ in the search box.
  4. Select Instagram then tap Install.
  5. To continue, review the required app permissions then tap Accept.

We’re confident that one of the solutions presented here will fix the problem but then again, there are times when things are not what they seem. So, if the problem continues after doing the first three solutions, then you still have the fourth to fix this issues.

Fourth Solution: Perform Master reset

Before you actually do this, make sure you make a backup of your important files and data especially ones that are stored in your phone’s internal storage as they will be deleted and you may not be able to retrieve them. You’re doing this procedure because it would always fix stubborn app issues.

After the backup, make sure that you remove your Google account from your phone so that you won’t be locked out after the reset. Once everything is set and ready, follow these steps:

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  5. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  6. Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  7. Press Power button to select.
  8. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  9. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  10. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  11. Press the Power key to restart the device.
