How to fix Galaxy A8 2018 that has Youtube that keeps crashing
The following are the things you should do if Youtube crashes on your phone or shows the “Unfortunately, Youtube has stopped” error…
First Solution: Reboot your phone
Before anything else, reboot your phone. It refreshes your phone’s memory as well as close all apps running in the background. There is a possibility that this problem is due to a minor firmware issue and it can be fixed by a simple reboot.
Better yet, do the Forced Reboot sequence. It’s more effective than the normal reboot. Just press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds. The phone may reboot normally. However, after this and the problem continues to bug you, then move on to the next step.
Second Solution: Reset Youtube
It means you have to clear the cache and data of Youtube to bring it back to its default settings as well as delete all files associated with it. It’s very effective and it may be the only thing you should do:
- From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
- From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
- Tap App Manager.
- Locate then tap Youtube.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap CLEAR CACHE.
- Tap Cached data.
- Tap CLEAR.
After doing this, reboot your phone to refresh its memory and then when it becomes ready, open the app to know if it still crashes or shows the “Unfortunately, Youtube has stopped” error. If not, then you may log back in to your account but if the problem remains, there’s a couple more procedures you should do.
Third Solution: Wipe cache partition
There are times when system caches get corrupted and when this happens, it may result to performance-related issues and app crashes. To address this problem and to rule this possibility out, you have to wipe the cache partition:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
- Press the Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the Youtube app still crashes after doing this procedure, then you must do the next solution.
Fourth Solution: Do the Master Reset
After wiping the cache partition and the problem continues, you have to do the master reset. This will bring the phone back to its default settings but also delete all your files and data that are stored in the phone’s internal storage. So, make sure to make a backup of files you don’t want to lose. After the backup, remove your google account from your phone so that you won’t be locked out after the reset. Once everything is set, follow these steps to reset your phone:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
