Method 1: Change Discord background in User Settings.

1. Open the Discord app on your PC.
2. Click on User Settings icon (gear icon) at the bottom.
3. Select Appearance.

7. To begin changing your Discord background, you can select a new theme by going to the Themes page of BetterDiscord website. 
8. Once you’re in the Themes page, select the custom theme that you want and download it to the Discord Theme folder (the default path is usually like this: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord\themes). Alternatively, you can simply open theme folder and copy the theme to it.
9. Afterwards, go back to Discord User Settings > BetterDiscord Themes and make sure that the Discord theme that you want to use is enabled. 

How to remove or uninstall BetterDiscord?

If you decide to stop using BetterDiscord for whatever reason, you can do so using the installer that you downloaded to add BetterDiscord in the past. If you don’t have the installer file already, you can go back to the BetterDiscord website again and redownload it. Here’s what you need to do exactly:

1. Open a web browser and go to the BetterDiscord website.
2. Click the Download button to download the latest BetterDiscord installer.
3. Once the download is complete, open the BetterDiscord-Windows.exe file.
4. Agree to the License agreement and hit Next.
5. Click on Uninstall BetterDiscord.
6. Wait for the system to remove BetterDiscord.
