How to fix Xbox Live 8015402B error?

Xbox Live error code 8015402B is pretty easy to fix if you know what you’re doing. In majority of cases, error code 8015402B is simply a reminder that your current Xbox Live account is not yet considered verified, even though you can already use it to browse your Xbox Home screen and perform other things.

Fix #1: Check for Xbox Live server status.

The first thing that you must do is to see whether or not there’s an issue from the servers that might cause the Xbox Live error code 8015402B. Some Xbox Live errors are actually the result of servers going down.

If you haven’t done so yet, visit the official Xbox server status page. If there’s anything that says about a problem regarding Account & Profile and Online Safety & Family, you can choose to wait until the issue is fixed before checking your email address to verify your Xbox Live account.

Fix #2: Verify your email address.

If there’s no known server issues at all, then the most effective solution for Xbox Live error code 8015402B is by verifying your email address. This is especially true if you used a non-Microsoft email address in your Xbox Live account. The Microsoft email domains include the following:

  • @live.com
  • @msn.com
  • @outlook.com
  • @passport.com
  • @hotmail.com

If the email address linked to your Xbox Live account is different, such as @yahoo.com or @gmail.com, you need to check the verification email sent by Microsoft and click on the verification link to fix the issue.

If you can still remember the date when you created your Xbox Live account, find the verification mail in your inbox and make sure to follow the instructions to verify.

Once you’ve verified your Xbox Live account, simply head over to your Xbox console and try to sign in to your account. If you’ll not receive the same error message or error code, that means that you’ve resolved the issue.

Fix #3: Use an Outlook.com email address

Another way to fix Xbox Live error 8015402B, or rather, to bypass the verification process completely is by using a Microsoft email ID, specifically an Outlook account. Because it’s an official Microsoft account, there’s no need to verify it when used as an Xbox Live account. All you need to do is to use your email address and password to sign in to Live. Then, after that, it’s just a matter of downloading your profile or gamertag to the console.

To create an Outlook account faster, we recommend that you do it on a computer or smartphone. Here’s what you must do:

  1. Open a web browser and go to the Microsoft account signup page.
  2. Click on Sign in.
  3. Click on Create one!
  4. Enter your desired email address (such as [email protected]) and hit Next.
  5. Create your password.
  6. Follow the instructions to create a new Microsoft account.
