S8 Charger Port Is Bent

Problem: Charger port (in phone (pin) ) seems to be bent I’m guessing. Charger won’t fit or go in to charge phone. Had the galaxy s8 about 3 months now, never had a problem before today. Cleaned out port of any lint or dust, still won’t work. Suggestions ? thanks

Solution: Try using a different charging cord to check if the issue is caused by the cord that you are using. In case the issue persists even when using different cords then you will need to have the charging port of your phone checked and possibly replaced at a service center.

S8 Keeps Getting Calls From Telemarketers

Problem: I keep getting calls from telemarketers and I have tried calling them and telling them to remove me from the call list but to no avail. I’ve blocked the number but they call back from a different number in the same area code. I don’t see a digit filter option on my new S8. Is there a way to block an entire area code?

Solution: Right now there is no way to block a certain area code from calling your phone. You could however try blocking unknown callers from calling you.

  • Tap Phone
  • If you see More, tap More. ~If you see three dots (for More), tap the three dots.
  • Tap Settings
  • If you are given the option to choose settings for either Call or Contacts, select Call.
  • Tap Call rejection or Call Blocking
  • Tap Auto reject list or Block list
  • Tick Unknown or switch on Block anonymous calls

One disadvantage to this though is that if someone you know who is not your contact list tries to call you then the call will be blocked.

S8 Camera Stopped Working Error While Recording Video

Problem: I was in the middle of recording a video of my daughter onstage and got a message that the camera stopped working . I had taken some still shots while the video was recording so I have those, but wondering if the video was cached somewhere. I had to shut the phone off to save the battery later in the day so I hope I didn’t erase anything . It recorded fine after that error message and that was the first time I ever had that.

Solution: If the video recording got interrupted due to the camera stopped working error appearing then the video file will not be accessible. It’s considered as a corrupt file already and you won’t be able to view this from the Gallery app.

S8 Sending Double Text Messages

Problem: I have a s8 active, when I send texts it shows up as if it’s sending 2 text messages even though it is only sending one, it is really annoying seeing two of my messages In the inbox area

Solution: The best troubleshooting step that you can do is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.

S8 Only Charges When It Is Off

Problem: My Samsung galaxy is not charging it only charges the battery when the phone is turned off why is this happening

Solution: If your phone only charges when it is turned off then what you will need to do first is to try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the issue persists then try cleaning the charging port first using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then one last troubleshooting step you can do is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S8 Screen Is Frozen Not Responding

Problem: My S8 screen is frozen and will not respond to touching the screen. From what I just read, I may have too many apps running in the background. I was not aware that they remaining running if not manually closed. Please help.

Solution: For this particular issue you should try pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. Once the phone restarts try checking if the same issue occurs. If it does then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • If you have a microSD card installed then try removing this. Sometimes a corrupt card can cause this problem.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S8 Will Not Boot

Problem: My phone is rooted since day one. 6 months later, i restarted my phone, then it went in boot loop. I tried to flash the stock rom, but it failed with PIT error. I flashed (with Odin/Pit) the PIT, that I extracted from the stock ROM. Then I was able to flash the stock ROM, with Odin saying PASS. But unfortunately the S8 won’t boot. I can’t access to Recovery Mode either. Only Download mode is available.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to flash the phone again with an updated stock firmware file. You can get this firmware file from the Sammobile website. In case the issue persists then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Failure to Authenticate Device When Trying To Update Software

Problem: I’ve been trying to update my S8 software but every time I press “check for updates” it says ” failure to authenticate device ” how can I correct this issue?

Solution: There are several reasons why you are getting this error message when trying to update the phone software.

  • Your phone is rooted
  • Your phone is running on a custom software
  • You have an unlocked phone running on a different network.

If your phone is not affected by the above factors and the error message still occurs then try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Try using Smart Switch to update your phone software.

S8 Moisture Detected When Charging

Problem: What is wrong with my phone.? S8 is perfect. But I don’t know I came home and tried to charge it but its not charging. Saying detecting moisture. I feel so bad right now. Plz help!

Solution: This means that the phone has detected the presence of moisture in the charging port. What you need to do is to make sure that this port is dry by using a vacuum to eliminate the presence of moisture in the port. You can also use a hair dryer to dry the moisture in this port. Once this is done try charging the phone again. In case the issue still persists then I recommend using a different charging cord.
