S7 Text Message Sending Failed Even If Recipient Has Received It

Problem: On my Samsung Galaxy S7’s standard Text Messaging App. It keeps showing message failed, even though the receiver received it. Also, the phone is not showing me that I have voicemails. I have to call my voicemail number just to see if someone has left me a voicemail.

Related Problem: My phone did the auto update. after that I have had terrible service and text are saying failed when they are actually going through. I can send MMS messages. And I am receiving messages fine. I have done the backup, soft reset, factory reset, cleared caches. EVERYTHING. and I am VERY frustrated.

Related Problem: After latest upgrade, showing failed text messages even tho they are going thru. Tried everything right up to the factory reset and nothing worked. Still having issue. So apparently nothing is going to fix issue until Samsung steps up and releases a fix.

Related Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy s7. I receive text messages. when I send them i get a fail to send message but I know people are receiving them. Straight talk says the problem is not with the network. I have tried turning the phone then on again, checking settings, installing different message apps, I even reset back to factory but I still keep having problems. Is there any advice you can give?

Related Problem: when i send a text, the other party receives it but i get a message after a few minutes that says my text failed.. ive factory reset, cleared cache , and did the partition thing from the recovery mode. i’ve also tried it in safe mode and it still does it so i don’t believe it is caused by one of my apps.. it started a few days ago after an update

Related Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung galaxy s7 and I’ve been having problems sending text messages it says that they failed when indeed it got to the person. This started after a update went through. I have tried a factory reset twice and I’ve tried rebooting it and wiping cache data and still nothing. Please help very irritating

Solution: The common denominator among these similar issues that our readers are facing is that the text message sending failed error has occurred right after they updated their phone software. This not only affects phones on a certain carrier but various carriers. Some of those who have experienced this issue and have performed a factory reset say that the issue still occurs after the reset which leads us to believe that this is caused by a bug in the update.

One temporary solution that you can try is to change the network mode of the phone then check if the error still occurs.

For Verizon subscribers in particular try the following steps.

  • Settings
  • Connections
  • Mobile Networks
  • Network Mode…change it from LTE/CDMA to CDMA.

You should also try checking for new updates from time to time as an update might soon be released to fix this particular issue.

S7 SMS Are Sent As MMS

Problem: When i send some messages intended to be SMS , it sends as MMS hence making it difficult for my recipient . I do not want to send MMS messages. I am just sending texts/words no images

Solution: Are you sending an individual text message or a group message? If you are sending a group message then it will be sent out as an MMS.

If you are sending a text message to an individual then try checking the number of characters that the text message has. Some carriers have a limit in the number of characters that an SMS can have before converting it to MMS. You will have to check on your carrier regarding this matter.

If the individual you are sending a text message to does not have a phone number but instead an email in your contact list then the message will also be sent out as an MMS.

S7 Receiving Double Text with Emoji

Problem: My Samsung S7 is receiving double texts when sent with an emoji, the first has the emoji’s as a question mark in a black diamond, the second is the same text with the correct emoji.  This began mid-August.  It isn’t every text, but is from multiple senders including iphone as well as android phones.

Solution: Try going to the Message settings of your phone then input mode. Make sure that automatic is set then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if a new software update is available for your phone then update the device accordingly.
  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Failed To Retrieve Picture Message

Problem: When people text me a photo, I am only able to receive it occasionally.  A majority of the time I get a “Failed!” message with an empty picture spot.  I will try to retry by clicking the exclamation point, it will state, “Failed to retrieve message from ….”  Try again?”  I will click Retry, but I never get those pictures.  WHY???  How can I fix it??

Solution: What you will want to do is to make sure that your phone has a strong and stable mobile data connection as picture messages are usually sent and received using your mobile data connection. In case the phone has a strong mobile data connection then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Restart the phone. This will reset the phone connection to the network and refresh the phone software.
  • Try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

S7 Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hello I have a galaxy S7 that had been perfect up until today I’m not receiving messages from anyone. But people are receiving them from me, it’s not just IPhones because my friend who has an s7 as well did receive my messages but I didn’t receive his. I have done what it says on the internet but still nothing. I tried sending  texts to myself but haven’t received any of them. And I can make and receive calls. Thank you

Solution: You should try removing the SIM card from your phone then insert it in another phone. Check if the same issue occurs in this other phone. If it does then this could be an account or SIM related problem which should be resolved by contacting your carrier.

In case the issue does not occur on the other phone then it’s time to check your phone. Reinsert the SIM back to your phone then perform the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Muted Text Message

Problem: Hi! I get notification of all texts received, other than from only one sender. On the “Messages” screen, by the side of that message sender’s name on the right side there is a “muted speaker” sign. Since, I receive notification for every other text message, I do not know how to change the setting for this sender only. By the way, the sender sends message from an iPhone. But, messages from all other iPhones work fine.

Solution: To fix this problem follow the steps listed below.

  • Open the text of the user
  • Click on the down arrow beside their phone number top left (conversation setting should open)
  • Change the notification setting (if the setting selector is grey then they are muted)
