S6 Will Not Install Latest Update

Problem: My S6 will not install latest updates. It tells me I need to update, so I tap install now. It then proceeds to update, it gets to the blue screen with the Android robot but stops. Then it shows the Android robot “dead” and a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. After it tells me it couldn’t update and to visit a Samsung centre (I don’t have one anywhere near me) please help!

Solution: You should try using Smart Switch to update your phone. To do this make sure that you have the latest version of Smart Switch installed in your computer. Connect your phone using a USB cord to the computer with Smart Switch running then perform the update. In case the same issue occurs you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do the update again.

If your phone still can’t get the update then you should consider flashing the updated firmware file to your phone. You can download the firmware file from the Sammobile website. You will also find the instructions on how to flash your phone software in this website.

S6 Randomly Returning To Home Screen

Problem: My galaxy s6 has recently began randomly returning to home screen right after I open an app. The app stays open but when I try to access it again the phone returns back to the home screen. I do not believe that the battery is accessible for a temporary removal. Anyway, the phone is a lease.  I have tried turning off the phone and restarting and sometimes that resolves problem, sometimes it does not.

Solution: If restarting the phone temporarily fixes the problem then this is very likely caused by some software glitch. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem. After performing a step check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next step.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is operating in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Stuck In Reboot Loop After Nougat Update

Problem: Hi I have a Galaxy s6 (not the edge version) and I recently upgraded to software version 7.0. Since then my phone has been getting stuck in reboot loops periodically. it usually happens once a day and lasts for about an hour.

Related Problem: Have just updated my galaxy s6 a couple of days ago update dated 30/07/2017 my phone has been working great today for whatever reason has over heat as i went to make a phone call in noticed it was very hot and seemed to have rebooted it self

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that your phone apps are updated. To do this just open the Google Play Store then go to the My Apps section. You will find the apps that needs to be updated from here. Update them accordingly.

In case your phone apps are updated and the issue still occurs then you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Can’t Get Software Update

Problem: Trying to update system/software but it can’t authenticate device. I transferred my Samsung S6 phone from Verizon to ATT. It hasn’t taken any updates since I did this. I am having trouble sending pics which takes hrs or 2-3 days to send and sometimes they set there showing “sending”and never go through. ATT said I need to update but I can’t.

Solution: One factor that can cause this issue is that your phone is not able to access the Verizon update servers because it is now running on the AT&T network. You can try getting a Verizon SIM then update your phone with it. You can also try updating your phone using Smart Switch. Make sure the latest version of smart Switch is installed in your computer when trying to update the phone using this method.

In case the update is still unavailable then you should consider manually flashing your phone with the latest firmware version. You can get the latest firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. This is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Black Screen of Death

Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy s6 with BSOD syndrome. The phone will charge and will receive calls (sound works) I can even touch the screen and get the vibration when I tap the answer call area. I have tried all ways to reboot mentions in various threads but none work. The led sometime pulses blue, green or red. Right now it’s blue. My son said he was using an app and it wouldn’t close so he used the power button to close the screen and it went black ever since. Please assist

Solution: The best way to address this issue is to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then you should wipe the cache partition of the device then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

In case the screen does not work even in recovery mode then it’s possible that the display assembly is faulty. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Wi-Fi Turns Off Everytime Phone Sleeps

Problem: Hello, I have recently updated my Samsung S6, everything looks totally different but there is one thing which bugs me all the time. Internet (wifi or mobile data) is turning off every time I lock my phone.

Solution: This issue can be resolved by changing the Wi-Fi sleep policy of the phone. It’s very likely that the setting is set to turn of the Wi-Fi connection if the phone sleeps in which case you will need to change this.

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen
  • Tap and hold on the Wi-Fi icon
  • Tap More
  • Tap Advanced
  • Tap Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep
  • Tap on Always

S6 Couldn’t Connect To Wi-Fi

Problem: Recently, my phone has been having some issues. I was recently with family, and all of a sudden, I couldn’t connect to the WI-FI. It would connect to my father’s car WiFi perfectly fine, and other families as well. I was heading home, and it suddenly stopped working for me. We have plenty of data left. I don’t know if this could help or not, but my phone was factory reset by somebody, and has been losing its charge very quickly. To the point where I have to carry around a portable charger. Any ideas? Thank you!!

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to forget the Wi-Fi connection from your phone. Restart the device then connect to the Wi-Fi network again. If you are unable to connect then check if you can do so from Safe Mode. If the phone can connect in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

It’s also possible that the issue can be caused by the Wi-Fi router itself since you mentioned that your phone can connect to another Wi-Fi network. You will need to check the router if this is the case.
