S6 Edge Split Screen Mode Randomly Activating

Problem: S6 edge constantly going into split screen mode it vibrates each time it does it, after it happens the two bottom touch buttons don’t work until I turn the phone off then back on. Happens every second sometimes making it impossible to use the phone..

Related Problem: The phone will try and open Split screen by itself, or in the middle of trying to text it will engage the close all apps and then start cycling through like someone is continually press actions… I set the phone down and just let it go. I have performed a Factory Reset.  Still doing it. Any thoughts?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone works in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs in this mode then the next step is to check if a system software glitch is causing the problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Not Getting Sound Notification When Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hi I have a Galaxy 6 Edge  and have had no problems until about a few days ago.  I am getting text messages and I am sending them just fine.  The problem is that I am no longer getting sound notifications when I receive text messages.  I have checked the sounds and notifications and it appears that everything is set to on and the volume is turned up to max capacity.  I just don’t get the sound notifications for the texts.

Solution: Does this issue occur for every contact that sends you a text message? If it does then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Make sure that the phone is working in Standard Mode.

  • Open the Messages app
  • Tap the Menu icon ( the three dots on the upper right side)
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap the Notification switch and make sure that it is in the on position.
  • Tap Notification Sound and select an option
  • Tap back to return to the previous screen
  • Tap the switches next to any of the following to turn on. Vibrate when sound plays, Pop-up display, Preview message.

In case the issue persists then perform the following steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Check if the issue also occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then this could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Edge Not Recognized By Computer

Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung S6 edge, I had the phone unlocked and since then i have been unable to connect it to any device, i am encountering the same issue as many others, it chargers but doesn’t recognise it as a device. I have tried diff pcs, macs, cables, tried to change all the setting as per instructions however, no luck. I have a large number of pics on my phone and i am unable to sync them using google drive or dropbox, nothing works. I can’t even get the phone into safe mode. I do not want to do a factory reset without having my pics backed up. Please help!! Thanks in advance.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is done try using different USB cords to connect the phone to a computer. Make sure to properly set the phone so it can be detected by your computer.

  • Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
  • Press Connected as a media device.
  • Press Media device (MTP) until the function is turned on.

If the phone is still not detected then you will have to get this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: My husband dropped his Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in the pool today by accident. He dried it off immediately, and it’s been in rice. He checked his SIM and it’s plain white, so it’s not been damaged, however the phone still won’t turn on. He’s gutted as all his photos are on the phone and is worried that he probably won’t be able to retrieve them. Not sure what to do now, can you advise?

Related Problem: Dropped my phone in wc bowl for 3 seconds. It was clean water. Took it out, dried outside and asked in the restaurant for rice. Put it inside the rice for 3 days. Phone went off straight after getting out of water. Now when I connect charger, it shows 99% battery full and soon will charge to 100% but will not switch on. Again the 99% battery charging screen will appear. I  don’t know what to do next

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture trapped inside the phone. Once this is done clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Connect the phone to a charger and let it charge for 20 minutes. Turn on your phone while it is still connected to a charger. In case the issue persists then the phone might have suffered some water damage. You will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Recent App Button Not Working

Problem: Lower left recent app button not working. It does not work even in safe mode. I have cleared the cache, and have done a master reset. Problem still exists. I have been through all the settings but problem permanently exists. What else can I do to fix this?

Solution: Unfortunately, you have already performed all of the possible troubleshooting steps that can be done in your end. Since this appears to be a hardware related problem already you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
