Note 8 Web Links In Email Not Opening In Chrome
Problem: Hey Droid Guys Just received my unlocked Note 8 running beautifully on the tracfone Verizon network. I have one minor annoyance I haven’t been able to solve – web links in Gmail, text, everywhere that used to be able to “open in Chrome” via the top right 3 dot menu are now default to “open in Samsung internet”. I’ve already made Chrome my default browser, I’ve tried disabling Samsung internet, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.
Solution: Usually, in this case you will need to make Chrome as the default browser in order from web links in your email to open using the Chrome browser.
- Open the Settings app on your device
- Now tap Apps
- Next, tap three dots in the top-right corner to open the menu
- Tap Default apps
- You will see the apps set by default, such as home screen, messaging app, etc. Search for the browser and make sure that it is set to Chrome.
In case it already is set this way and the issue still persists then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 8 Text Messages Disappear
Problem: I have just purchased a samsung galaxy note 8 & transferred my data from my old iphone using the cable. Everything seems to have transferred correctly, but I am unable to view any new text messages I receive. I get a notification, but there is nothing in my conversations. I have tested with my wife’s phone, where I can send her a message and she receives it, but it doesn not show in the convo either on my phone, then when she replies and I open messages, her name etc disappears from the list in my convos. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app. Once this is doen check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 8 No Network Signal Available
Problem: Hello. I have a Note 8 that lost its network signal suddenly. It was working fine but suddenly lost network and has never worked . I tried everything from factory reset, to maybe trying to unlock. I have also taken it to a number of phone technicians but to no avail…there is just a circle with a forward line on the network space. Please help. Please help I have tried all possible solutions given online and given technicians to try it out too.
Solution: Try using a different SIM card in the phone as the problem could be caused by a faulty SIM. In case the problem still persists then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 8 No Notification For Sims Freeplay
Problem: Hi, after doing some googling and found no answer to address my issue, so i decided to email you in hope that you could help me troubleshoot this problem. So, a couple of days ago, i installed a gaming app called “The Sims Freeplay”, both on my phone and on tablet, same app version, and both were cloned from the original app (i changed the app package name), i have done this with numerous other apps with no problem, both on phone and on tablet. Problem is, my tablet receives the in-game notifications just fine (The Sims Freeplay app), but not so with my phone. The game would notify me on my tablet when some activities have been done, but the same game, same version, same package name, won’t do the same with my phone. All notifications in game (both phone and tablet) are set to ON, and on device’s settings, both are set to “Show Notifications” I have cleared my phone’s cache, wipe cache partition, rebooted my phone, install – uninstall, nothing worked.
Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to download the app from the official Google Play Store as it will be the latest supported version. This also minimizes the occurrence of malware on your phone.
Note 8 Not Charging
Problem: Can you help me?? My phone is not charging at all !! I charged it using a different cable different charger and also with my PC and Laptop, But it is not charging. It is just showing a message :”USB device connected” or “High power USB device is connected”. The charger is the same one that I charged earlier. What can I do now??
Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to first clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is done check if the phone will now charge. If it still doesn’t charge then try using different charging cord and wall chargers. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
If you have a wireless charger then check if the phone is able to charge using this. If the phone charges then the problem could be caused by a faulty phone charging port. In case the phone does not charge then some internal component of the phone might be faulty and is causing this problem. Either way you will have to bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 8 Screen Is Black
Problem: Hello, My Samsung Galaxy Note 8 screen randomly went black. I know the phone is on because the LED will light up, and the buttons are lit up, and I can even feel the screen respond when I touch it. However, the screen is black.
Solution: To fix this problem try pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
In case the problem persists then start your phone in recovery mode and if the screen works in this mode you should do a factory reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
