Note 5 Screen Flashing White
Problem: Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It has been working great up until about 2 weeks ago. I was on my phone using facebook. I noticed the battery was getting low so I plugged it in to charge. When it was fully charged I unplugged it and got on another website, maybe email. I don’t remember now, and the screen was flashing, half white and the other half black. The phone has not been dropped and it has been in good condition up until this happened. Please help as I have many contacts on my phone who I am out of touch with now that it wont work. Thank you.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to do a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
In case the issue still persists then start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. This will not delete your phone data. Restart your phone after this.
If the issue still persists then it’s very likely that this is caused by some faulty hardware component in which case you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Screen Is Blue Unresponsive
Problem: Hello, I woke up with my S Note 5 screen looking like a blue ink bottle splattered all over it. I was still able to open functions for a little bit, but when I rebooted the phone, and tried to unlock it does not respond to touch anymore. Also, it’s been having weird electric crackling for the past week or so. It did it at random times, I tried to observe if to see if– it was because of an app, or the amount of time I have been on it and all that, but there wasn’t been a specific time, or app or length of time on it that was routine. Just random times really. Also, this past weekend, I felt an electrical surge on my palm while holding it, but it didn’t do anything out of ordinary, and it was not hot either. I do not recall my phone getting soaked in any liquid other than it getting damp from the rain 2 days ago. It did not do anything weird last night, or showed signs of anything being wrong with it, but I guess the blue botches in my screen caused my Note 5 to be faulty and unusable. Please help me, it will not let me unlock my phone, I just need to at least transfer everything I have on my Note 5 to another device or even a cloud or external storage. The device was recently updated as well, but I can’t remember the OS version it updated to so I chose the other from the choices below,. I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks in advance
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this particular case is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and install it.
If the problem persists in Safe Mode and since you want to retrieve your phone data then performing a factory reset in recovery mode is not going to be an option. In this case then I would recommend you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly.
Note 5 Camera Photos Are Blurry
Problem: Suddenly, all my pics that I take are blurry in Gallery. In quick view, after I take the picture, it’s great but later on in Gallery, it’s blurry. Also, I can’t scroll between pictures, only the 1st one shows up all others are just black. This has been going on for a week. Older pics in gallery are ok and can scroll. Have tried clearing cache of both camera and gallery, force stop both apps, reboot, etc. At the same time, all pics taken with the selfie camera are only white in gallery thumbnails and then black when you click on it. Makes using my camera almost useless. But then, when I connect my phone to my computer, the pics show up just fine! Also when I look at them on my phone in file explorer – images, they are fine but I have to click on each thumbnail separately. If I scroll, the ones after the initial one are black. This is extremely strange and frustrating, please help!
Solution: You should check if the same issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. if it doesn’t then it’s likely that this is caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. You should first check if the problem still occurs.
Note 5 Stopped Charging Fully
Problem: Last month, my phone stopped charging fully. It would say 100%, but when unplugged drop to 98% immediately, then almost immediately to 63%. After a few days, I took it to Batteries Plus to have a new battery installed. The new battery still has the issue, so I thought it had to do with an app. Tried Safe Mode, still had the issue. Did Factory Reset and wiped the phone, still have battery issues. I broke down and bought a Note 8, but I would still like to use my Note 5 as a backup. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge your phone. If the issue persists then the problem could be caused by a faulty power IC. If this is the case then you will need to have this checked at a service center.
Note 5 Shuts Off After Charging
Problem: My Samsung galaxy note 5 charges to 5-10% and stops, when i restart it after a few minutes its suddenly at a higher percentage according to how long it was charging, when i remove the charger after i see its on a higher percent it stays on for about 3-10 minutes then shuts off and goes back down to 1 or 0%. How do i fix this
Solution: This is most likely a hardware related problem already possibly caused by a faulty battery or power IC. The best troubleshooting step you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Only Works With S Pen
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is not sensitive to finger touching. I have to use the S Pen even when taking pictures using the camera. Please help!
Solution: To fix this problem you need to do a factory reset to eliminate any software glitches that can be causing this issue. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the issue persists then the digitizer of the phone is not working. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
