Note 4 Randomly Switches Off
Problem: hello my name is Nina. so in the beginning , my phone kept dying. it would be at 100% and sometimes at 40%/%05 it dies on me. the rate at which power was draining was ridiculous so i quickly replaced the battery. power longer now with the battery but it still dies on me at 20%/355. this seems to happen when am doing something like receiving a call, using an app , taking pics and most especially playing music. if i have been playing music the whole time, for instance battery is at 100% and i start playing music, when it gets to 40% the phone dies. put it on charger and it’s on 0%. it charges fast. I just got off a call, it was at 35%, once the call is finished and i opened a message on Facebook, checked a message on insta. phone slowly switched off. now its on Charge. what’s really the problem? what can i do to solve this issue please?
Related Problem: HI good morning, I bought my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 about year on 8 month now about 6 month after I noticed that whenever my phone reaches 30 percent the phone would shut down however I purchase a new battery in February of this year didn’t have any problem with the battery until two days ago I was using my phone to send a message my battery at the time was 36 % after sending the message I realized the phone indicate battery low on just shut down. So am asking what could have caused the issue.
Solution: Since you already tried replacing the phone battery then the next step is to check if a software glitch is causing this problem. You should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty power IC. I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
Note 4 Battery Drains Quickly After Security Update
Problem: I’ve received the July security updates about 2 weeks ago, and since then the mobile turns off when the battery reaches 35%, in addition to that, the battery drains so quickly, it’s 65% and the next second it’s turned off and when I attach the charging cable it shows 30% and one time it showed 0%. what may be the problem? and if I downloaded the previous version of the rom would it be ok? or if you have a better solution I would be thankful.
Solution: If this problem occured right after the security update then it’s possible that it is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. This data causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in issues such as this. What you will want to do right now is to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Once this is done proceed with backing up your phone data then perform a factory reset.
If the issue remains then I suggest you try using a new battery on your phone.
Note 4 Shut Down Randomly
Problem: My problem with my Note 4 is the same at the “Galaxy Note 4 keeps shutting down by itself, other issues” topic. It shuts down when the battery is at 60% or at similar percentages. There is an exception for this issue. When the phone is in the power saving mode (which starts immediately) I can use it until the battery is 0%. I am using the phone while power saving mode is on since 1 year. What can the problem be? Perhaps a bad process starts when power saving is off.
Solution: If the phone does not shut down randomly when it is operating in power saving mode then the problem might be caused by some software glitch. The first thing that you should do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is completed do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to get a new battery as this problem might be caused by a faulty battery.
Note 4 Does Not Turn On
Problem: My note 4, purchased new few years ago, was working fine on Aug. 11, then the next day, it would not power on. I tried all of the soft reset and reboot methods I could find, but nothing worked. Today, the 14th, I took the note 4 to a local Quick Fix phone shop. After a few hours, they reported that they could not repair it — they said that the problem was definitely software. I thought it was hardware related, perhaps the power on switch. This phone has never been dropped or exposed to water, and, up to this time, has never presented a problem.
Solution: If some software glitch is causing this problem then you will still be able to start the phone in recovery mode and from here perform a factory reset ( which erases all of the phone data). In case the phone does not start in recovery mode then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you should perform.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging your phone from a computer USB port.
- Try getting a new battery.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to another service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Battery Drains Quickly Then Restarts
Problem: Battery goes suddenly from 80% to 19% and then phone reset without an end. I’ve not yet tested a plain phone but suspect it is a faulty battery as replacing the battery solves the problem. Just trying to charge the old battery to use it as a spare battery but seems not possible. Battery has been used during 2 years with a decreasing usable time. It’s the original Samsung battery model EB-BN910BBE S/N: AA 1F A16yS/2-B No production date.
Solution: If replacing the battery fixes the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty battery. I recommend that you get a new battery for your phone to avoid this issue.
Note 4 Turns Off At 50% Charge
Problem: My galaxy note 4 battery is turns of the phone at 50-60% charge. When I start recharging it quickly gets to 100% charge. Can you advise on how me on how to sort this problem. I have had to quickly buy portable phone charger as the problem is causing interference with work. Thank you and hoping to hear from you soon.
Solution: There are two troubleshooting steps that are recommended for this problem. First you should check if a software glitch is the culprit by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. In case the problem still occurs after the reset then you will need to get a new battery as this problem might already be caused by a faulty battery.
