Note 2 Stuck In White Boot Display

Problem: Hi. I would like to seek some help regarding my samsung note 2. When i was surfing the net earlier, my phone suddenly froze. After that, i tried pressing the power button to switch off the screen (it worked before). However, my note 2 restarted, and the display showed SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2 with a black background. It stayed at that condition for about 5 minutes and i decided to take out the battery to restart it. However, after doing so, the screen becomes white colour. And it stayed that way. I googled it and it says that the motherboard has to be replaced. HELP PLEASE!

Solution: Before going ahead and replacing the motherboard you should perform some troubleshooting in your phone first as the issue may just be easily resolved. Take out the phone battery again and the microSD card of your phone if it has any. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This drains the phone of any residual power and also clears out your phone RAM. Reinsert the battery but leave the microSD out then turn on your phone.

If the issue still persists then attempt to wipe the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When ‘GALAXY Note II’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

If your phone still does not turn on then you have to consider doing a factory reset. Take note that this deletes any data you have saved in your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note II’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device

Note 2 Boots To Logo Then Turns Off

Problem: Hi, You have an awesome blog, thanks for all your work! My Note 2 (VZW) has been working fine for the last 1.5 years.  I have not used any custom ROMs – it’s basically stock.  For the first time, yesterday, it turned off a couple times while using it – this has never happened before.  Then later last night it began only staying on if it was plugged in.  The battery was ~80%.  If it is unplugged, and I try to turn it on, it only gets through the first Galaxy Note II logo and then turns back off. If it is plugged in, it seems to work fine, though as soon as unplug it it turns off.  It says the battery is 100% now with all the time plugged in.   I would have guessed battery but there was one time this morning while I tried to turn it on without being plugged in and it got stuck on the red VZW logo screen for over 20 minutes (this was a one-time behavior).  Since then I have tried both clearing the cache partition and doing a factory reset, and the behavior is the same.  I have tried removing both the microSD card and sim card, that does not make a difference. Do you have any advice?   Should I get a new battery and see if that helps?  Or, is this some kind of motherboard issue? Thanks and regards.

Solution: Before ruling this as a motherboard issue you should first try to get  new battery as this may just be a battery related issue. Make sure to charge the new battery for at least 20 minutes using the wall charger before turning on your phone.

Note 2 Reboots Randomly

Problem: Hi, I need your help in resolving my Samsung Note 2 issue. Currently I have two concerns 1. My phone reboots randomly and also it reboots whenever I uninstall any app.  2. The task manager cannot be accessed using the home button long press; when I try to access it gives a prompt ” unfortunately task manager has stopped” Look forward to your support in resolution. For your information I am using stock firmware and my device is 2 years old.

Solution: There are various ways to tackle the issues your phone is facing. The quickest though is to perform a factory reset as this reverts your phone back to its original condition. Make sure that you backup your phone data first before proceeding.

Note 2 Stuck In Boot Logo

Problem: Hello, I am having an issue with my note 2 where it is stuck on the boot logo after it died and I put it to charge, I’ve read all the solution posted on your page and I’ve even took out the battery multiple times and I’ve wiped the cache and rebooted but still nothing.  Please help as I do not want to do a factory reset because I have all my sons birth pictures and videos on there.

Solution: If you have already performed the steps we suggested for this type of issue save for the factory reset then you should then consider bringing your phone to an authorized service center. They may have some tools that can extract the data from your phone without performing a reset.
