The 2017 version of this model uses an aluminum unibody and has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display. It also runs on Android Nougat and has the Bixby virtual assistant. The other features of this phone include an Exynos 7870 octa core processor combined with 3GB of RAM, 13MP front and rear cameras, and a 3600mAh battery just to name a few. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. J7 Screen Is Black But Still Working
Problem: i have held the power, up and down and the home button to drain any power left in the phone, and have followed every thing i can find on Youtube, and nothing is helping. i took it to a repair shop and they hooked the phone up to a computer and the screen is fine from what their program has told them and the service tech said it may be in the motherboard. I was taking pictures with the J7 and the screen went White, then black. all the touch functions still work but just doesn’t have any display. It is all black. I can turn it on and hear the volume going up and down when i hit the volume keys and double tap the home button and bring up the camera and take pics, but just cant see nothing due to the screen being completely black. Plz help, lol.
Solution: If the repair shop has already checked the screen and found it to be working properly then the problem could be caused by a faulty ribbon connector connecting the display to the motherboard or it could be caused by a faulty motherboard.
Before having the motherboard of the phone replaced try to have the display assembly of the phone replaced first to make sure that this is not causing the problem. If the issue persists even after replacing the display then you will have to consider having the motherboard of the phone replaced.
J7 Low On Storage Space
Problem: I’ve had my j7 for about three months. It’s low on storage, and I was wondering how to help maximize it as much as I can. If I reset my phone, and it wiped everything will I then have my 16 gigabytes of storage?
Solution: If you perform a factory reset on your phone you must first backup your phone data ( photos, videos, music) since it will be deleted in the process. You will then gain a significant amount of storage space on the phone but this is not the full 16GB as your phone operating system and pre-installed apps will also be using this storage space.
If you need more space to save your phone data then you should consider getting a microSD card.
J7 Verizon To Straight Talk Text Not Working
Problem: I have the Verizon Galaxy J7. I changed from Verizon prepaid to Straight Talk. The Verizon account is closed. The number transferred to Straight Talk. I still get the logo on startup and text and phone doesn’t work all the time. Service in settings still shows Verizon and I get message SIM is not Verizon. Can you help solve this problem straight talk said phone is activated.
Solution: If the phone is already activated and you are having issues with the phone then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the text messaging works.
The startup logo of the phone will still be showing the Verizon logo since it is running on a Verizon software.
In case the issue persists then you should consider flashing the phone with a non-Verizon firmware. You can get this firmware from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
J7 Charges Very Slow
Problem: My phone is charging at a slow rate And it takes a full night to charge from 81 to 100. This morning the charge percent was 99 but as soon as I picked my phone up, it became 92. And as soon as I plugged in the charger it reduced to 91. What’s the solution for This?
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Next, try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. In case the issue persists then one last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. This allows you to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. Backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it does then your phone might need a battery replacement already.
Problem: My wife has had the J7 for months now. Despite the low number of apps on her device, she experiences freezing of the phone, over and over. Last week while she was sending a message, the device suddenly restarted and froze on Samsung logo with the display on for an hour or more until it discharged. The same thing happened this morning, when my wife touched the screen to see if there are any messages. This time the phone kept freezing for as long as 2 hours. During this time, we tried to turn of the device by pressing the power button and power+Vol down, until it completely discharged.. Nothing happened really. This has happened many times since the purchase date, around 6 months ago. The second issue is the battery that can not hold long. Being completely trickle charged for 4 hours, the device only works for 6-7 hours with normal use, which is absolutely weird.
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then I recommend taking it out first. Once this is done backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install any apps first after the reset. Try checking first if the freezing issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J7 No Signal
Problem: My J7 is displaying a no signal icon. When i try to make a call it says emergency calls only or out of service area. I noticed in my available networks it says default but will not let me in to change, add or look for networks. No network available or network not available comes up anytime I try anything using straight talk wireless. I used this phone previously and one day it shut off while i was using the microwave and phone at the same time got the phone back on after troubleshooting somehow but it has had no signal since i was i to everything, the custom Os screens everything please help
Solution: The first thing that you need to do right now is to remove the SIM card from the phone then insert it in another device. If the issue remains then you should try getting a new SIM. In case you are getting a good signal when the SIM is inserted in another phone then it’s time to troubleshoot the J7. The best thing to do right now is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before the reset. If the issue still occurs then this is already a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
