J3 Screen Glitches Green And Yellow

Problem: I dropped my phone about a month and a half ago. Since then I didn’t have any problems, but now my phone has suddenly started glitching green and dark yellow and I am unable to see most of the screen underneath the glitching. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this without having to replace my phone?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here.Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

J3 Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: i have a samsung galaxy j 3. i dropped the phone. now it wont turn back on. when dropped the screen did not break. i went through your reboot steps and nothing worked.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge to turn on the phone. To do this you need to clean the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it gets removed. Once this is done charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. If it doesn’t charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. Try checking if the phone can charge from a computer USB port as well. When turning on the phone press the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the phone still remains unresponsive then then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Not Charging Battery Temperature Too Low

Problem: My bf Samsung Galaxy J3  will not charge at all it keeps saying battery temperature too low for charge. The battery itself is the temperature it needs to be.

Solution: The first thing you need to do is to try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge your phone. If the issue persists then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset to eliminate the possibility of this being caused by a software glitch.

In case the issue persists then the problem is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component possibly a damaged charging port assembly, charging port flex cable or thermal resistor. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Home Or Back Button Not Working

Problem: Every time I go to my home screen via the back button or the home button, the home screen flashes on, and then almost instantly displays the image it just visited. For example, if I am on the keypad screen, then press the home button, then the wallpaper and home screen will flash, but will almost instantly be replaced with the keypad I just left. Also, the phone responds to touches as if it’s still displaying the home screen – that’s how I could go on to the keypad in the first place. Also, if you swipe down, you can go into settings, but as soon as you swipe back up then the previous screen reappears.

Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to first check if this is caused by a software glitch. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still persists after the reset then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Not Connecting To Wi-Fi Network

Problem: Cannot connect to Wi-Fi. IP address is not available. I have wiped the cache partition, and that still did nothing. When I turn on the wifi it fails to pick up any wifi. All the phone says is “scanning for wifi networks” and never actually picks up or registers any wifi. Please help. Thanks.

Solution: Try checking if this issue only occurs on one Wi-Fi network or if it occurs on any Wi-Fi network you try to connect to. If it occurs on any Wi-Fi network then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try to toggle Airplane Mode then check if the issue gets resolved.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if you are able to connect to a Wi-Fi network in this mode. If the issue disappears in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J3 Unable To Send MMS

Problem: Hi I am unable to download MMS photos. Android version 6.0.1. I have googled a solution and tried a restart, removing the battery, clearing the cache, and checking I have the correct APN settings as per my carrier. Unfortunately after all this I am still unable to open MMS. Any suggestions?

Solution: Make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription and that the mobile data switched is turned on. If it is and the issue still remains then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If this doesn’t fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center as it looks like the display has been damaged by the drop.

J3 Shadow Spot On Screen After Drop

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy J3 got dropped into the washer while powered on. I immediately took it apart, dried in rice. 2 days later, I tried to operate it. It wouldn’t work. I soaked for 1 minute in 91% alcohol and air dried. The next day, it came right on. On the second day, a shadow spot appeared in the top right corner. It continued to grow over a 3 day period. The screen is extremely bright/white but you can see outlines of things . If I set to Auto adjust, it’s too dark to see. Please help! Also, camera takes blurry pics now.

Solution: Unfortunately this appears to be a hardware related problem already caused by a water damaged component. You will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
