S4 Screen Is Unresponsive
Problem: Phone is on.. screen is unresponsive to touch I hear all the keys through the phone’s speaker but it won’t get me past the startup window (eg swipe) I tried soft reset and holding the power button for a minute two and maybe 3. It’s like the screen went dead help please
Solution: Try accessing the recovery mode of your phone. If you can access this mode then you can either wipe the cache partition of your phone ( this deletes the temporary data in your device) or do a factory reset. I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note though that this will delete the data stored in your phone so do this at the risk of losing your data.
If the issue still remains then this could already be a hardware related issue probably caused by a defective digitizer. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Double Images In Screen
Problem: I have double images on the screen. The items (phone, contacts, messaging, internet and app) will not respond. There is the app block is imposed on top of the message icon. None of the icons will respond until i touch this app icon. Along the top of the screen the 4g, signal bars, batt and time are double images. Please help get my screen display back to normal. Thanks
Solution: Try checking first if a third party app installed in your phone is causing this problem by starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the problem disappears in this mode then an app you installed could be causing the problem. Find out what app thi is and uninstall it.
If the double images still appear in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the problem persists then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware possibly the display. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Blurry Screen After Software Update
Problem: I updated to 5.0.1 on my Galaxy S4 yesterday, and this morning my taskbar is blurry only on the Home Screen. It looks like there are multiple time, battery, cell service, wifi, etc. and that they are overlapping on top of each other. This issue does not exist when I have programs open, whether it’s an app/game or my messages, contacts, etc. I’ve tried a simple restart and removing the battery.
Solution: Since the problem appeared right after the software update then this could be caused by some data glitch. Try starting your phone in recovery mode first then wipe its cache partition. If the issue still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 Black Screen Due To Crack
Problem: The phone was just sitting and when my daughter went to send a text message after picking it up the screen was half blacked out and the top jumbled with what looks like a hairline crack about a half inch long on the left side of the screen just below the volume button. I was looking around online for sudden cracks in screens and found this is an internal issue. We have owned the phone 3 months but it has only been in use 1 month. Have you heard of these problems. I was also reading Samsung is not admitting to this issue and is blaming the customers for “dropping” the phone and they are refusing to replace them. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Solution: There have been some reports from other users of this device of the screen cracking on its own. While this may seem impossible it is still quite possible since this could be a design flaw and may have started during the manufacturing process.
If the phone still has a warranty you should try to claim it otherwise the best option right now is to have the display replaced at an authorized service center.
S4 Screen Is Black After Drop
Problem: Hi ,I recently dropped my phone and screen is black now …and I can see little light on right hand corner on the top …it receives calls but Screen is black can’t see anything …any solution to fix it …phone shop gave me quote around $400 to fix .. Thank you
Solution: Since the display has been physically damaged then the only way to fix this is to have it replaced. The quoted price to have the display replaced may not be worth it anymore since this phone is already an old model. For $400 you can a new phone. choosing from some of the mid-range models available in the market today.
S4 Screen Is Black
Problem: My phone was working one morning, then I placed in my back pocket for a couple of minutes. Reached into my pocket and the screen was black. Everything else works. I can hear the sounds, emails hitting the phone, just the screen is black. Tried taking out the battery and holding the power button down, holding volume home and power button together, taken screws out and made sure nothing was loose, nothing works
Solution: Try to check if you can start your phone in recovery mode. If you can then you can either wipe the cache partition of your phone or do a factory reset. I prefer the latter however this will delete the data stored in your phone so do this at the risk of losing your phone data.
If you are unable to access the recovery mode then the problem could already be hardware related. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Black Screen After Application Stopped Working
Problem: I was scrolling through Instagram only phone and it stopped. Then I received a message saying “Unfortunately the application has stopped working” or something like that. Then, I turned the phone off because it froze. When I went to try and turn it on the screen was just black but it was lighting up (the back and setting key at the bottom of phone). Then that little light at the top kept blinking. The phone is completely black I haven’t dropped it or anything. What do I do?
Solution: It’s possible that this issue could be caused by some software issues. To troubleshoot this problem you need to start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you need to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to do this as a last resort.
S4 Black Screen After Deleting System Files
Problem: There is an option in Kingroot in which it allows you to delete pre-installed files or apps or other things that are undeletable. My issue is that I deleted around 100 files that I wasn’t suppose to delete.it warned me at the end, but it was too late and I had already pressed the delete button.so now I have a black or blank home screen with no aops or other things on it.so how do reinstall the stuff I deleted or is it possible to do a hard system reset? if not, is there a solution?
Solution: Try starting your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. If this does not resolve the problem then you will need to flash your phone with its stock firmware. You will need a copy of the firmware file as well as the latest version of Odin installed in your computer to do this. Detailed instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

So recently I was just watching Youtube on my phone then we had to leave. It was working completely fine then once I got in the car it was pitch black. (I have a AT&T Samsung S4 sgh-I337 Lollipop 5.0.1). I did crack my screen 1 year ago but everything was fine until just recently. I did update to lollipop about 4 months ago and never had an issue. Everytime I boot up, either the screen glitches, or restarts automatically.
After replacing the front glass (just the glass) of my s4 (SGH-I337), bottom screen touch (about 1 inch) stop working and everything else seems okay. I already did the factory reset and my carrier is at&t. Please help.
After dropping my Samsung Galaxy S5 my phone’s screen is cracked underneath the screen but thre glass itself is not cracked (hairline crack?) as well as the screen is unresponsive and totally black but all of my other buttons work and it receives calls and messages and notifications and the buttons on the screen light up and make sounds as well as vibrate. I don’t know if this means the glass or the LCD or both are damaged and need to be replaced or if I should just get a new phone entirely.
