A7 microSD Card Unmounts Randomly

Problem: Hi. I have Galaxy A7 (2016). Either the phone or external memory SD Card (SDXC) is corrupted, but I think it is the phone now that I have bought a new Samsung SDXC 64GB U3, the symptom remains. The problem: the SD Card unmount itself intermittently, even with the new card inserted. This may be caused by me dropping the phone more than three times already. Should I replace the SD Card / Sim Card slot at Samsung? Or, just get a new phone entirely (J7+) Thanks

Solution: You should try checking if some software glitch is causing this problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Remove the microSD card from the phone first then clean the microSD card slot using  can of compressed air. Insert the microSD card back to the phone then check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then the drops your phone suffered might be causing the problem. You should have this checked at a service center.

A7 Keyboard Replaces Letters With A Space

Problem: I am increasingly frustrated when typing to have letters of words replaced with a space and letters added at the end of a word. I a. Also (see last letters on line two which appeared when trying to carry on a sentence with the word ‘also’ which now appears as the start of a new sentence. Really fed up and want some answers

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by a setting in the keyboard app. Try clearing the cache and data of the keyboard app to bring it back to its default configuration. The issue should be fixed. If the issue persists then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

A7 Freezes when Taking Videos stored to microSD Card

Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy A7 and have an sd card inserted which is the default for saving videos and photos. I am having issues when trying to record videos, I press record and the counter ticks along but when I press stop the whole phone just freezes. I am unable to get out of the camera app, restart or use the phone at all. It is very frustrating. If I set the internal storage as the default then it works fine. I had this issue with a previous A7 sent it off to insurance company to be looked at and they said it was not fixable so sent me a new phone. But now I am having the same issue with the new phone! Any ideas please.

Solution: Do you have another microSD card available? Try replacing the card in your phone with a new one as this might be causing the problem.

A7 Not Getting Software Updates

Problem: Hi i have a Galaxy A7, iv had it since the end of 2016. It does not have auto update selected so i don’t think i have ever updated. Every time i try to update it says “the operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorised way. Try downloading software updates using Samsung Kies on your PC or visit a customer service centre” and Samsung Kies tells me “The connected device is supported through Smart Switch, which is faster and more convenient” and smart switch sends me straight back to Samsung Kies. Please let me know if you can help, Thank you!

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the phone can get software updates. If it still can’t then your phone is either rooted or is running on a custom firmware. To update your phone you will have to manually flash the latest firmware file using Odin. You can get this file from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

A7 Not Fully Charging

Problem: Hi, I bought my first smartphone in July 2017. It is a new phone but not the latest model as I could not afford one at the time. It is a Samsung Galaxy A7 and from the first time it would not fully charge and seems to take a long time while it tries. The most I can get in it is 83% and it takes 6 to 8 hours to get it from 50% to 80%. I am unused to smartphones but it seems as though there is an issue with this. The first thing I did was try other powerpoints and when that didn’t help I bought a new genuine Samsung charger which made no difference either.  I have held the power button down to discharge any static, tapped the power button, cleaned the terminals, checked the charge socket for debris and tried again but nothing happens Have I made a mistake in buying an older model phone even though it was new? do you have any other suggestions or advice? Thanks for your help

Solution: Try doing a factory reset on your phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once this is done do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

A7 Recovering Data When Screen Is Broken But Phone Still Works

Problem: Hello!. My phone has the screen broken (black) but it works. I need to recovery the files inside it BUT i have an ScreenLock and i can’t see them. The app Dr.Fone doesn’t work with Galaxy A7. Can you help me?

Solution: Due to the secure nature of the Android environment you will not be able to recover any data stored in it unless you get the display repaired. The display is needed to enter your security credentials which in turn will allow you to gain access to the data stored in the phone.

A7 Not Charging Not Turning On

Problem: Hi, the other night I put my phone  on the charger as I went to bed as usual. However, when I woke up and went to use my phone it was dead – the screen was black and wouldn’t turn on by clicking the home button and that’s when I realised there was also no charge light in the top corner (the phone was still connected to the charger). I checked that the charger was plugged into the powerpoint properly, which it was. So I unplugged it and put it back in after about 10 seconds and tried turning it on but that still didn’t work. I’ve since tried charging it again, pressing the power, volume and home buttons but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? Do you think I might need a new battery?

Solution: You should try cleaning the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air then charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue persists then this could already be a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty battery. The best thing to do in this case is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
