Troubleshooting Galaxy A50 with WiFi Connection that keeps dropping

As long as this isn’t a problem with the hardware in your phone, you should be able to fix this problem on your own without taking a trip to the shop or store. But if after this troubleshooting and the problem continues, then it’s safe to assume it’s a hardware problem and the best thing you can do about it is to have the phone checked. With that being said, here’s what you need to do about this problem:

First solution: Force restart your device first

Before anything else, it’s best to make sure that it’s not just a minor issue with the firmware. There are times when firmware glitches may cause some services to crash as well. So, to rule out this possibility, you have to perform the forced restart to refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload its apps and services. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has finished restarting, try to see if the WiFi connection still keeps dropping.

Second solution: Power-cycle your router or modem

It is also possible that this problem is caused by your network device such as your router or modem. So, the next thing that you have to do is restart them to refresh the connection. If it’s a problem with the network, and assuming that you’re connecting to your own hotspot, then you should be able to fix the problem by doing this very simple procedure.

  1. Unplug your modem or router from the wall outlet or simply disconnect the power cord from the main unit.
  2. Leave it without power for a minute or two.
  3. After that, plug it back into the wall outlet or reconnect the cord.
  4. Wait for the device to become online and then let your phone reconnect to it.

If the WiFi connection in your phone still keeps dropping after this, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset Network Settings

You’ve already refresh the network by restarting your network devices to no avail. So, at this point, it’s time to delete the connection in your phone and bring all network services to factory defaults. To do so, you have to reset the network settings. If this is just a minor issue, then this procedure will be enough to fix it. Don’t worry, none of your files or data will be deleted if you did this.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Touch Reset.
  5. Tap Reset network settings.
  6. Tap Reset settings.
  7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
  8. Finally, tap Reset.

Once the reset is complete, let your phone reconnect to the same network and if the WiFi connection still keeps dropping, then move to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Delete the old system cache

If a system cache is corrupt, issues like this may occur it’s because core services may no longer work the way they should. That’s the reason why you need to delete the old cache so that it will be replaced with a new one. You can do so by restarting your phone in recovery mode and wiping the cache partition from there. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the phone has finished the reboot, try to see if the wifi connection still keeps dropping. If so, then move on to the next solution.
