How to fix Samsung Galaxy A50 that keeps rebooting by itself

Troubleshooting Galaxy A50 that keeps rebooting

When a phone keeps rebooting by itself, there’s a possibility that the problem is with the hardware. However, there’s only so much we can do if that’s the case but if this problem occurred without apparent reason or cause, then it’s probably just a minor firmware issue. That’s what we need to rule out. With that being said, here’s what you need to do: 

First solution: Use your phone while it’s being charged

We need to know if your phone works properly if it’s connected to its charger because if that’s the case, then it means that the battery might already be failing. I encountered a lot of new phones with battery issues and one of them was the Note 7. 

However, if your phone still keeps rebooting even if it’s connected to its charger, then the problem could either be with the firmware or another component. Move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Use your phone while in Safe Mode

The next thing we have to rule out is the possibility that some or your apps is causing the phone reboot by itself. By rebooting your phone in safe mode, you’re temporarily disabling all third-party applications and this isolates the problem. If the problem is fixed in this mode, then it confirms our suspicion and it’s pretty easy to fix the problem. However, if the phone still keeps rebooting while in safe mode, then it could be with the firmware. 

This is how you restart your phone in safe mode: 

1. Press and hold the Power key until options show. 
2. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode. 
3. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
4. Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen. 

Assuming that the problem is fixed, this is what you need to do next: 

1. Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode. 
2. Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone starts to reboot by itself. 
3. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down. 
4. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner. 
5. Scroll to and then tap Apps. 
6. Find and tap suspected app. 
7. Tap Storage. 
8. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
9. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall. 
10. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone. 

But if the problem persists or occurs while in this mode, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Wipe the cache partition

Wiping the cache partition will fix most of firmware-related issues and if this is one of those cases, then you should be able to properly use your phone after this procedure. By doing this, you’re deleting the old cache and getting it replaced with a new one. Here’s how it’s done: 

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step. 
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
6. Press Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the phone has finished rebooting, continue using it like you normally do to see if it still keeps rebooting by itself. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Master reset your phone

As long as the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way, you should be able to fix this problem with a reset. But before that, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted and you may not be able to recover them after that. After the backup, remove both your google and samsung accounts from your phone so that you won’t be locked out. Once everything is in order, follow these steps to reset your phone: 

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step. 
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
6. Press Power button to select.
7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
