Samsung Galaxy A50 is stuck on boot screen and won’t boot up
When a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy A50 gets stuck on the boot screen and would not continue to boot up, you can always expect it to be a problem with the firmware. The gravity of the problem basically depends on what you did before the issue started. If you tried to root or install a custom ROM and then this problem happened, then you may have to re-flash the firmware, or the third-party firmware may be corrupt.
On the other hand, if the problem started without apparent reason or cause, then you may be able to fix it just by doing a couple of basic troubleshooting procedures. There are things that you need to do and a couple of them may be a bit difficult for you to follow. If you’re not comfortable doing them, then just bring the phone to the tech and have fixed. How to troubleshoot your Galaxy A50 that’s stuck on the boot screen
Being stuck on the boot screen can be a sign of a serious firmware issue but could also be due to some apps that keep crashing. In other words, we don’t know for sure why your phone cannot continue booting up to the home screen and that’s the reason we need to troubleshoot your phone to have a shot at fixing what the problem really is. With that being said, here’s what I suggest you do about it:
Step 1: Start your phone up in Recovery mode and wipe cache partition
The purpose of this step is to rule out the possibility that this problem is due to some corrupt system caches. This is the first thing we want you to do because apparently, the phone still powers on, the firmware attempts to boot up but gets stuck on the boot screen. It’s more likely a firmware-related issue than anything else, although we really can’t be sure. Don’t worry though because this procedure is safe for your data as well as for the firmware itself. What it does is simply delete all system caches so that they’ll be replaced with new ones when the phone reboots. Here’s how you do it:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
- When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
- Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
It’s normal that the phone will take time booting up after you’ve wiped off the contents of the cache partition as the system will rebuild those files. So, the phone may still show the screen where it’s stuck for a minute or two but just wait for your phone to boot up successfully. If it’s still stuck though, then you have to try the next step.

Step 2: Try to start your phone up in Safe mode
Now, we need to rule out the possibility that this problem is caused by apps. You have to isolate the problem by disabling all third-party apps so that you would know if it’s third-party or pre-installed apps that cause it. To do so, you just have to run your phone up in Safe mode. Don’t worry, none of your files and data will be deleted by doing this. In fact, just by doing this procedure doesn’t fix the problem but will give you an idea of the apps is causing the issue. Here’s how you boot your Galaxy A7 in safe mode:
- Turn the device off.
- Press and hold the Power key past the screen with the device name.
- When ‘SAMSUNG’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
- Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
- Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
- Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode’.
If the phone successfully started in safe mode, then the problem is a lot simpler than it seems; you just have to find the app that’s causing the problem, try updating and resetting it and if that won’t work, you have to uninstall it.

Step 3: Backup your files and data and then reset your phone
After doing the procedures above and the phone still can’t continue booting up, then you’ll have to reset your phone. As I said earlier, this problem might just be with the firmware and the reset will rule out such possibility, although I’m confident it’s the last thing you need to do to fix it. However, you need to make a backup of your files and data as they will be deleted during the process. Also, I suggest you disable the Factory Reset Protection so you won’t be locked out after the reset.

- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Cloud and accounts.
- Tap Accounts.

- Tap your Google ID email address. If you have multiple accounts setup, you will need to repeat these steps for each account.
- Tap Menu.
- Tap Remove account.
- Tap REMOVE ACCOUNT.
After doing this and you’re sure you’ve already made backups of your important files and data, then follow these steps to reset your phone:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
- When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
- Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
I hope you can bring your phone to boot up successfully after all this because if not, then you need help from tech who can do further tests on your phone.
