Not all cases of this type can be fixed on your end so if none of our suggestions help, you must get help from Samsung. We don’t include DIY repair options in this one so if you have plans on fixing the device yourself, try looking for more online resources.

If your Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up and you have no idea what to do, this troubleshooting guide may help. Follow the suggestions below to check.
Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up fix #1: Try forced reboot
If your Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up, the first troubleshooting step that you want to do is to see if restarting the device will work. Smartphones may sometimes freeze if they encounter bugs that they can’t resolve on their own. In most of these situations, the problem can be fixed easily by simply rebooting the phone. Try restarting it normally first by pressing the Power button to access the boot menu. Then, select Restart option and see if that works.
Another way to restart the device is by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and the Bixby/Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on. This simulates the effect of having disconnected the battery from the device. If this works, this may unlock the device.
If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:
- Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
- While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
- Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.
The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.
Rebooting your device regularly at least once every week can be beneficial. If you tend to forget things, we suggest that you configure your phone to reboot on its own. You can schedule it to do this task by doing these steps:
- Open Settings app.
- Tap Device Care.
- Tap the 3-dot at the top.
- Select Auto restart.
Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up fix #2: Wait until the battery dies
If your Galaxy Note10+ still won’t boot up after forcing a reboot, the next thing that you want to do is to allow the battery to drain. Depending on how much is the remaining power, you may be looking at a few hours to days. If your Note10+ got stuck with a full battery charge, it may take several days for the battery to become empty. If that’s the case, you may try the rest of the suggestions below to see if you can bypass this suggestion.
Unlike older devices, your Galaxy Note10+ has a non-removable battery pack. The only way to restart it is by pressing the Power button, or by doing the forced reboot procedure. So, if the two ways are not doable, what you can do is to simply wait it out. Hopefully, the system reverts to its normal function after it restarts. This can take time if the battery has high charge left at this time. Depending on how fast your phone loses battery power, this can mean waiting for a few hours to several days. There’s no way to hasten the phone’s battery drain rate so all you have to do is wait. Turning off the device is a requirement to perform the rest of the suggestions below.
After turning off the phone don’t attempt to power it back on for a minute.
Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up fix #3: Charge device
If the phone has emptied the battery, your next move is to ensure that you recharge the phone. In some cases, simply doing this can help jumpstart the system. Let your Galaxy Note10+ to charge for at least 30 minutes then check if it boots up normally. Lithium-based batteries may not be able to turn on the system if there’s not enough charge. Make sure not to interrupt the device while it’s charging by not turning it back on. For troubleshooting purposes, make sure that the charging accessories you’re using are working. If you are using a non-Samsung cable or adapter, try switching to official ones that came with the device. Once charging has reached 30 minutes, power on the phone and see if it goes beyond the Samsung boot logo.
If charging the device is successful and your Note10+ restarts normally, make sure to recalibrate the OS and battery. Here’s how to do it:
- Drain the battery completely. This means using your device until it powers down by its own and the battery level reads 0%.
- Charge the phone until it reaches 100%. Be sure to use original charging equipment for your device and let it charge up completely. Do not unplug your device for at least two more hours and also don’t use it while charging.
- After the elapsed time, unplug your device.
- Restart the device.
- Use your phone until it completely runs out of power again.
- Repeat steps 1-5.
Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up fix #4: Boot to Safe mode
If your Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up after a new app has been installed, you may have a bad third party app issue. To check if that’s the case, consider restarting the phone to safe mode. All third apps, that is, apps that you added on top of the original ones that came with the software, won’t be allowed to run on safe mode. They will all be greyed out so you won’t be able to launch them. So, if your Note10+ can successfully boot to Safe Mode, that can mean that one of the apps is to blame.
To restart your Samsung Galaxy Note10+ to safe mode:
- With your device turned on, press and hold the Power button until the Power off menu appears then release.
- Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode prompt appears then release.
- To confirm, tap Safe mode.
- The process may take up to 30 seconds to complete.
- Upon reboot, “Safe mode” should appear in the lower-left of the home screen.
- Check for the problem.
Safe Mode may be a useful trick in checking for a problem but it won’t pinpoint the exact app. In order to identify which of your apps may be behind the problem, you’ll have to do a process of elimination. Here’s what you need to do exactly:
- Boot Galaxy Note10+ to safe mode.
- Check for the problem.
- If the issue returns or once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps one by one. You’ll need to do spend some time doing this if you have plenty of apps installed. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
- It’s important that you only uninstall a single app at a time. After removing an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem again.
If your Galaxy Note10+ is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4 until the rogue app has been identified.
Keep in mind that there’s no shortcut to knowing which app is bad or buggy. Just be patient and keep repeating the cycle above if the problem returns after removing one app. Once the issue stops, the most recent app you deleted must be the culprit. Be sure not to re-install the bad app. You can add the rest of the apps you deleted previously afterwards.
NOTE: This suggestion (safe mode) can only work if you can successfully restart the device to safe mode in the first place. If the device remains unresponsive or stuck, then simply skip it.
Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up fix #5: Try booting to Recovery
Safe mode procedure is only useful if a third party app is the one causing the problem. If the reason lies in the software, restarting to safe mode may not have any effects at all. In this case, you should consider rebooting the device to Recovery Mode instead. In this mode, there are two things that you can do. If you are able to successfully boot to this mode, the first thing that you must do is to clear the cache partition. If that won’t help, then you should proceed to factory reset.
In order to boot to Recovery Mode, you must do the following:
- Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
If your phone boots to Recovery Mode successfully, make sure to try wipe cache partition first. If that won’t work, then you can factory reset the phone by selecting Wipe data/factory reset.
Galaxy Note10+ won’t boot up fix #6: Get help from Samsung
There are many cases that the reason for a problem of this type is not fixable in an end user’s level. There may be an unknown, unique hardware bug that prevents the phone from initializing, or the software may have gone haywire beyond repair. The general rule is to seek help from Samsung if none of the suggestions above won’t work. Visit your local Samsung store or Service Center for help.
