Parents Can Now Record Bedtime Stories for Their Kids Using My Storytime on Google Assistant

Google has partnered with Instrument to offer an incredibly convenient feature for parents who have to spend the nights away from home and the kids. Known as My Storytime, this Google Assistant action allows families to record bedtime stories, and have the kids play them back on a compatible smart connected speaker. To start playing the recordings, one simply has to say “Hey Google, talk to my Storytime”, and that’s pretty much it.

Parents need to head over to mystorytime.com to create an account (preferably the one linked with your home Google Assistant), and start uploading your own customized bedtime stories. Google Nest teamed up with former sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and CEO of Instrument, Justin Lewis to bring this idea to fruition while also taking input from military parents.

On Google’s blog, Educator and Military Spouse, Jennifer Oliver shared her experience working with the team at Instrument over this feature. Oliver believes that this could help over 100,000 military parents deployed each year who leave behind 250,000 children back home.

A feature like this can allow a parent to upload their child’s favorite bedtime story from practically anywhere in the world to make sure the little one has the comfort of your voice while sleeping at night. While this was designed with military families in mind, a feature like this can help any working family who are away from their children for prolonged intervals.

You can check out the video below to understand how this feature works. This can be accessed with Google’s existing lineup of smart home speakers including the Google Nest Mini. Be sure to check out this feature by heading over to mystorytime.com.
